According to Amazon's product description (as of 2014/11), this product is It is made in China, and is called the 9109 Bypass Pruner. Additionally, here are some of the following As a global company, Fiskars has manufacturing facilities in many parts of the world, including several places in the United States. Knives made by Fiskars are commonly made with Despite its coating, the blade on the 9109 is made of high carbon steel. As we seem to have cut costs as much as possible, perhaps too much, over the years.

These shears would be useful for cutting off the hard dorsal, pectoral and tail fins of fresh whole fish, such as salmon, trout, and bass. Will they work?

Depending on the species of fish, it may work. It will be easier to catch smaller fish, like bass and trout, but larger fish could be more challenging, such as salmon. In addition, they are not made of stainless steel, which means rust could be an issue.

Is there a limit to the thickness of branches that ?

My cutter is able to cut a branch with a diameter over an inch by rotating it around in my hands with my open jaws. An acute cutting blade will allow the branch to be quickly sliced through.

Waste of time
3/5

It used to be a good value to buy these pruning shears. It has been several years since I purchased them and I always enjoyed My first pair didn't work for a month so I bought a second pair. A pair of new sneakers seemed to fix the problem, so I Here are some photos of the two arrivals that are pictured This is the blades in their original packaging with their blades shut. They have never been Between the blades, you can see a huge gap. Taking them back would be a waste of time, even for ten dollars. There is no point in recycling them. As a result of Amazon's poor quality merchandise, I've reached a point where I am no longer willing to take advantage of the convenience it provides. It's time to go back to brick and mortar shopping.

The product is of extraordinarily poor quality I'm not familiar with this Fiskars brand
3/5

decided to buy these over the equally highly rated but unknown Chinese brand based on fiskars' name versus the Chinese brand. I pruned 1 blueberry tree and 2 new Japanese plum trees (still in pots) after receiving them. In the case of the blueberry, the blades splayed apart a few times, and by the end of making all the cuts on branches less than 3/8", the blade was nicked quite badly. In fact, I removed a few branches that I didn't want from my plum trees. During the process of cutting a branch off from the central leader (<1/2"), the shears splayed apart and allowed bark to tear into the trunk instead of the simple clean cut I had intended. With these cheap pos shears, I severely damaged my $ 80 tree. The 10$ will be better spent on teeth, as they will give you a better cut. A list of other complaints is provided below Please read
The handle was poorly designed for ergonomics
> There is a serious undersizing issue with return springs! Despite its Chinese feel, I suspect it would fail pretty quickly if it wasn't for the fact that the "blade" is smoother after just one use than a cow's molars. Please read
Due to the speed at which the blade was damaged and dulled, I seriously doubt they even bothered with any kind of heat treatment.

They don't always do things the way they used to
3/5

For many years, Fiskars has been my preferred brand. However, with two pairs of these pruners, I had to let go of my loyalty. Despite the fact that Fiskars offers a lifetime warranty, it is highly annoying to have to photograph them, send information to Fiskars, etc. I had a pair from about 2008 that worked beautifully, but this will wear out any pruner after a while. Therefore, I bought these with the expectation that they would work as well as the previous pair. The new ones were both made in China, though I don't know where the older ones were made. The Fiskars are still in my possession- My right-handed sewing scissors were made in Europe and are excellent. I have used them for at least twenty years. In addition to the manner in which times have changed, these pruners have improved in quality The replacement pair as well as the new pair share the same issue. The jaws open and close so slowly that it appears that the mechanism to force the jaws open a second time after a cut is not strong enough to keep the jaws open. As a result, they have a tendency to cut "sideways" after a while, and if you are using them in a wet environment, that will only get worse as you use them more often. For a few months, I had trouble with the first pair I bought, which drove me to contact Fiskars. It was excellent customer service by them as they responded quickly and did send a replacement pair to me. As it turns out, the replacement pair suffers from the same issue. I pruned hard for about an hour, and they worked great, until they began to squeak and have the same problem An open-ended question Here is the A jaw-breaking experience Each cut should be done by hand. I find it extremely frustrating. There will be no replacement for these and I will shop for a more heavy duty pruner from a different manufacturer.

I opened the package and found nothing of value
3/5

Please visit http//www. dvr. gov. In the past I've been lulled by the convenience of amazon to purchase things such as pruning shears, but I'm increasingly realizing that most of this crap is garbage with false five star ratings. So I tried these Fiskars shears because they were an Amazon choice with high ratings. As soon as I removed the shears from the package, I squeezed the handle, but they did not return to the open position, but remained A pair of shears has to have a pair of blades. Below is a video I made of me operating them when they were still in the box. The return spring is clearly too small, and the locking mechanism is loose as well. There is Chinese junk in the world. For things like this, we should go back to the old fashioned method of going to the hardware store.

Shears that are excellent, dependable, and last for a very long time
5/5

Having been involved in cemetery care as a volunteer for 31 years, I am very familiar with many aspects of it. Every week, I spend a minimum of four hours in the cemetery's gardens. The very small groups of people who volunteer to help me periodically require these shears -- so I have six. It is a very reasonable price and is a very sturdy product. It's a good cutter, but he doesn't like to cut more than a half-inch wide Make sure the blades are no bigger than an inch or so, or else the blades will become out of alignment. My mechanic puts some household oil in all the moving parts of these shears on a regular basis to make sure they operate efficiently. I lost a pair of shears and found the tools on a gravestone after a few months of searching. Do not leave them outdoors as they will rust. For people who accidentally leave them out in the rain or snow, you can soak them in a water/vinegar solution (a few tablespoons of vinegar in a cup of water should do) for an hour and the rust will disappear. After that, just oil them and they'll be good to go.

It's too early to lose the spring! There is a small difference between my old and new "mouth"s
5/5

The bypass pruners I like to use are well made and very well priced. The grip is comfortable. Additionally, I am excited that there are no springs visible between the handles that I always lose when I buy pruners! What I don't like is that these pruners can only cut branches up to 5/8" while my other pruners can cut branches up to 3" The Fiskars are slightly wider for cutting branches as wide as 3/4" and can be preferred for this purpose. A few dollars more on pruners that are powerful enough to handle even slightly larger branches is well worth it, in my opinion. Although they are a little less expensive than my previous pruners, these are still well worth the price, even though they're not as heavy duty as my previous pruners. It is my mission to enable others to make informed purchases by writing honest reviews. Considering how helpful reviews can be, I do that because I read them myself. Thanks for taking the time to read my review.
