A picnic set such as this is one of the best ones out there. A sturdy, spacious picnic basket that provides enough room for drinking water, lunch, and a picnic lunch for four. It has been used half a dozen times since Christmas by my son and his family. In his bag are non-perishable foods, so all he needs to do is add perishable foods for a picnic at a moment's.

A leakproof seal cannot be achieved

Leak proof is definitely not the case. A few ounces of liquid were added to test before adding ice. The ice went immediately I wouldn't recommend it if you intend to use the cooler with ice directly. Although it is a very sturdy bag, I wouldn't recommend it for this use.
