It is, in fact, water-resistant. But I haven't washed in a while, and the "worst" that happened was some sand, so just shake it off and you're good to go. But for the material, I'm sure you could wash it, but not dry it.

I only used this blanket on Wednesday, and it was fantastic! The blanket was kept from blowing away thanks to the stakes and pockets. When I rolled it back up to put it away, the sand slid right off it, and the fact that it fits in the small carry case makes it even better because it's small and light. It takes up a fraction of the space and weight of a regular towel. I'd like to use it in conjunction with a small beach tent.
The size of this beach blanket is enormous. I think four people could fit in there. I've taken it to the park and just had a small picnic there. It doesn't matter if it gets dirty or wet because it's made of a very easy-to-clean material. I also like the color because it is so vibrant. For camping, you could probably put a tent on top of this. This summer, I'll definitely give it a shot.
