am using the JD E170 Oil Change Kit for 18 with the easy oil change and found the JD Brand Conversation Kit with the filter for it. Does not seem to fit the D series of lawn

The John Deere S-72 conversion kit has been designed for the S-72 To go back to the old style filter and drain found on previous series mowers, we'll be removing the Easy Change Oil Filter. As part of the kit, you'll find the previously model AM125424 spin on filter (for the L120), a filter adapter, and an assembly for changing the drain. Obtain the filter by itself you will not need the adapter or drain conversion for your oil change on the L120. In case of damage or breakage of the drain tube on the L120, this drain conversion assembly AM131611, will work to rectify that issue.

As soon as I installed the drain, I replaced the two quarts of oil that wouldn't normally be replaced when you use the $40 easy-change filter with half a quart. I just purchased this John Deere S170 from Tri County Equipment in Lapeer, Michigan. Due to the 30 second oil change filter, this mower and the entire S series lineup will require a bit of maintenance. Any of the technical BS that a John Deere engineer tells me about this wonderful idea is BS. Having done hundreds of oil changes, I know what they are talking about. The best way to do it is to never leave old oil in your crankcase and replace it with new oil. The only time you could do it yourself would be if you had no skill set and didn't know how to do a proper oil change. As it should be, this kit reduces the size and clearly defines what a regular oil filter should be. It removes the drain pipe so you can change all of your oil using the correct method and at an affordable price. Doesn't cost much and pays for itself the first time.
