That is no longer the case. In 2004, a metal sleeve component that provided refill stick tension was removed from this marking pencil. The metal sleeve is no longer required on all marking pencils manufactured after this date, making the product more durable in wet/ocean environments. It's also worth noting that refills made before 2004 will work with either version of the marking pencil.
I'm not sure what the "pencil's" ingredients are, and there's no information on the box. However, we used to call this product a grease pencil when I first used it over 50 years ago. It can be used to mark any type of paper, tape, or plastic container. (I started using this when I worked in supermarkets.) )br>On November 29, 2016, JKA responded to your question.
So, in my opinion.
The grease stick has a 0.25-inch diameter. 156". The mark's width will be approximately this size.

The wax moves slowly but steadily, leaving a clear mark on the items. The mark can easily be removed with a little olive oil. I used to use the coiled paper grease pencils, which kept snapping off and making me waste time trying to get back to the wax core by pulling on the little string. That annoyance is no longer an issue. They use their mouse to move the core forward. I ordered the entire box, even though it's more than I need, and I'm giving some to friends.
I bought these to write on five gallon buckets so I can keep track of what's inside, and they work well on both the plastic sides and lids. Both the white buckets and the orange lids have black writing that is nice and dark and easy to read. The writing does not smudge or fade, and it is simple to remove with a disinfecting wipe. Because I'm still working on the first pencil, the pack should last a long time. I also appreciate the fact that they can be refilled when the time comes (if that time ever comes). br>br>Overall, these are simple to use, perform admirably, and last a long time, and I highly recommend them.
These were purchased to replace my previous peel-style one. They're what I use to date leftover containers. My only gripe is that they aren't as easy to remove as the peel-off varieties. Having said that, I still prefer these to the peel variety.
These marking pencils, grease pens, or whatever you want to call them, are great for writing dates on my backyard chicken eggs before selling them. It's a lot easier to use than those paper peeling pens, and it's of much higher quality. These pens are highly recommended, and I will purchase them again the next time I require them.
I bought these to use on the outside of plastic ammo boxes to record reloading data so I can see what's inside at a glance, but it's also simple to erase when I need to put something else in there. That was my father's method, and I believe it was a good one. br>br>In any case, I now have 12 of these markers, which will last me for a very long time - In my opinion, this is a fantastic value.
Work was completed exactly as described. The amount of wax inside each pencil surprised me. It's possibly one. 5 inches. I went with the skillcraft china marking wax pencil because it's half the thickness and easily twice the length. They don't have refills like these, but I don't plan on using one pencil for very long; instead, I'll have several pencils in various locations. br>br>I'll attach a photo that compares the two.
I'm using them to grade and mark down assignments for the kids' homeschooling work on sheet protectors. This is ideal because it will take a little more effort to erase them when necessary, but it will be simple to do so in the end. Hubby claimed that he used them all the time in construction and that he wouldn't recommend anything else to us.
I work at a brown freight company, where I load trucks. All other pencils pale in comparison to this wax pencil. For its durability and longevity, I used to use a cigar-sized permanent marker, but this is far more convenient and effective, and it writes on everything except styrofoam.
