Is there anyone who knows the dimensions of the wood that will be required to make these seats?
Yes, because they have built-in interlocking features, I believe you could. If you stack them several layers high, a wooden shelf may be necessary for safety and stability. This is one of my favorite boxes. They've labeled everything in my garage to help me figure out what's what.
I agree with the previous answer that they will only fit in one direction, with a few inches of space on the side, and that they will each hold about 80 normal depth single LPs.
One can be found at Costco, and it's fantastic! It even includes a caddy.

These are the seats that I use in my classroom (yes, seats!). I bought six of these to use as "crate seats" and they are perfect. I made a gap filler out of plywood, foam, and fabric. They're sturdy and strong, and they're able to withstand the weight of eight-year-olds. They're also the ideal size for storing reading group folders. The crates have a professional appearance and are extremely durable. They're ideal for what I need in the classroom.
br>One of the six crates was perfect for my file folders. The folders kept falling off the other five because they were too wide. To bend it back to its original shape, I had to rig it to tighten up (I hope that makes sense). Once I did this, the folders held up well and functioned properly.

My vinyl collection is growing. I knew before I bought the albums that they only fit in one way. Zip ties were used to keep everything together. It's a fantastic product with a fantastic price tag. As my collection grows, I plan to purchase more.
Yes, you must purchase six at a time from Amazon, but that is fine. These crates will come in handy if you're an organizational freak like me. These make great light shelves, especially for DVDs or CDs, or even shelving for t-shirts, if you tie them together with black zip ties. In your closet, you should have shirts or towels. It's fairly sturdy, light, and well-made. made. They aren't cheap in appearance or feel.
The crates were either damaged during shipping or were already damaged, so I'm only giving it two stars. The crates were purchased to aid in the organization of files stored in hanging file folders. Unfortunately, all of the crates' tops are either too narrow or too wide, preventing the hanging files from properly hanging in the crates. I have one crate that I purchased from a store many years ago, and the plastic on that crate is much stronger than the plastic on these new crates. Toys and other items are still stored in them. I'm just disappointed that I won't be able to file with them. I can't send it back because it's too big and expensive, so I'm stuck with six of these crates. It's fine if you're only going to use them to store lighter/smaller items; however, if you want to use hanging file folders, you might want to look for something else.

I can fit a lot more in these than I could on the shelf, and they're also a lot easier to look through. I can't speak to their suitability for other uses, but they appear to be sturdy enough to serve as storage containers. I would strongly suggest it.
