To understand why Brother label printers do not use a fused toner (a polyester and carbon black compound) like laser printers, you must first understand how they are different than laser printers. In electrostatic printing, ink is charged by static electricity. Due to this, direct sun out of doors (such as on a mailbox or an external business sign) will cause the label and black printing to fade over time. These labels are therefore best suited for interior use in covered garages. You should use a laser printer (HP, Brother, etc.) and a non-shiny surface if you want a label that will withstand direct sun exposure. An ideal paper medium would be fine.

This is nicer than tape. It seems to stick better, and the glossy finish makes the print stand out.
This ribbon is used for making service interval stickers that I use to track oil changes and other maintenance. As of yet, they haven't faded in the sun or fallen off. It is a good choice for small repair shops.
To print off 1/2 inch high x 2 inches I like to use a 1/2 inch high x 2 inch size. There are two copies of the horizontal descriptions at either end of the four-inch wide labels. In a subsequent step, I partially wrap the ID tags around the cord or cable, and then attach them to themselves, resulting in Under my desk is a power strip that constantly has an octopus of cords plugged in. This app really helps me keep an eye on them all.
You can get it anywhere you need one. I did give four stars due to the price.
It is just as described, does an excellent job, and is very easy to use.
The ink doesn't rub off either. The ones on paper are far inferior to the ones on the computer. That's just what I'm looking for!.
