Questions & Answers

My code has escaped me. Is it possible to enter the box without the code?

Using a hammer and chisel on the side of the lid, you might be able to pry it open. There's no way to reset the code, and there's no way to bypass it. Attempting to guess is always an option. At the very least, it does not lock you out after so many failed attempts.

I purchased a Kidde AccessPoint 001413 Key Safe, which I recently installed with the assistance of a friend, dialed in the code, and it worked once. Could you please assist me?

Mine lasted about a week before it needed to be replaced. The first Amazon employee who offered assistance expected me to contact the manufacturer! Then I was supposed to return it with my key inside! Finally, I found someone who was reasonable and gave me a refund. Best of luck! After reading all of the reviews, I was extremely dissatisfied.

How safe from tools is this key?

My key safe was installed by the contractor in an "out of sight" location on the house, and it came with extremely long screws that were inserted into the door jam. I also purchased a Slimline Weather cover for the Keysafe to protect it from the elements, such as cold winter temperatures, freezing rains, and snowfall. Because of the weather cover, it does not appear to be a Keysafe, and it may be overlooked. If you live in a cold climate, pay attention to the weather forecast. The Keysafe is made of high-quality materials that are not flimsy.

This lock's work was destroyed. Is there a way to do this that I'm not aware of?

It's possible that the lock is defective; return it and demand a replacement.

The fact that there is a code to open the box is far more important than the number of possible combinations
4/5

This is why I gave it four instead of five stars. First and foremost, this key box performs admirably. It will keep your keys safe, but it will only open after a sequence of numbers is entered. It has a solid build that feels like it will last a long time and would withstand any kind of smashing or sawing for quite some time; I believe it would take a lot of effort to break this thing open. Now, the reason I didn't give it five stars is that there aren't many different combinations to choose from. You can make your code any length you want. So I could program it to open when I press "7," or I could program it to open when I press 1,2,3,5,6,8, or 0. You could also make it so that you have to press all ten numbers to open it (which is probably not a good idea). So, by this point, you're probably thinking, "Wow, that sounds like a lot of different combinations. " It doesn't, however, due to two factors. A number cannot be repeated, and the order in which the numbers are pushed does not matter. If my code is 8497, I can press 4987, 9784, 8974, and so on to open the lock. So, to save you the trouble of doing the math, there are a total of 1023 possible combinations (I won't explain why in this review). Anyone who claims otherwise is mistaken; the product description even states "over 1000," implying that it is only a few hundred. In any case, configuring the combination is straightforward. Each number has its own screw on the back of the plate. When you turn the screw 180 degrees, that number is added to the code. So, if I want my code to contain the numbers 1257 (remember, you can't repeat them and the order doesn't matter), all I have to do is turn all the screws behind those numbers. If you want something easier to remember, go with a shorter length; if you want the most combinations, go with a length of five numbers. If you add the numbers from my list together, you'll get 1023 (see below). I didn't count the code that had zero numbers in it). However, don't be put off by the fact that some lengths have a limited number of combinations. Remember that a potential thief has no idea how long the code is, so there are 1023 different combinations to choose from. No one is going to sit down and consider all of the options before putting them to the test. Also, keep in mind that if someone truly wants to break into your home and has made preparations in advance, this will not deter them. This key box is to prevent some jerk from attempting to locate the key that everyone has hidden under a rock, hung under the deck, or somewhere else. You can now secure that key in a safe. br> It gets four stars for build quality and the fact that it does what it claims to do. br>br>Length Number of Possible Combinationsbr> 1 10br> 2 45br> 3 120br> 4 210br> 5 252br> 6 210br> 7 120br> 8 45br> 9 10br> 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10 1 10.

What a knucklehead! I worked for a short period of time and then stopped

KEYGUARD SL- BUY KEYGUARD SL- BUY KEYGUARD SL Instead, dial 590. Wow, what a scumbag. Because I have two other lock boxes, one at my home and the other at my apartment building, I am not a novice when it comes to programming a combination on a lock box. As a result, I was taken aback by this experience. When I entered the code, the box was opened. Then I made the decision to switch things up. I "cleared" the combination by following the instructions. I changed the combination and re-set it. It was not possible to open. I re-cleared it and gave it another shot. Nope. I lost track of the number of times I did this. Then. To see if that was the issue, I manually shifted each number to the left. Nope. It was still refusing to open. It was never going to reopen. I gave it back to her. I purchased a KEYGUARD SL- 590 (which I have in my building and have never had a problem with) is a less popular but far superior alternative to this one. It's a little more expensive, but it always works and comes with a face plate cover. It's also an Amazon's Pick.

I used a small screwdriver to open it
3/5

I had forgotten my code and had no idea it. I persevered in my efforts. Finally, I determined that the mechanism was jammed and applied a screwdriver to the "Open" switch. The top of the book was easily removed. WITH A SMALL PRESSURE ON THE SWITCH WITH A SCREWDRIVER, THE COVER CAME RIGHT OFF. I took it off and examined the code with a magnifying glass. I had a coded extra digit that I had forgotten about. It's not stuck at all; the "Open" switch has a flaw that causes it to move halfway down regardless of the code. The door is held closed by 1/4 inch of metal, halfway by 1/8 inch, and there is very little metal left to overcome. I'm not sure if it's a design flaw or just a problem with quality control.

Mini "safe" is a must-have item
5/5

”. It's sturdy, well-built, and functional. In the event of an emergency, I installed this at my elderly mother's home so that first responders can get to it. This thing isn't going anywhere unless you take the door frame with you because I used six screws (longer than the ones that came with it) and epoxy glue. Then there's the matter of breaking into the box, which doesn't appear to be an easy task. I'm not sure why some holes were round and others were square, but they all accepted the same screw size. To set the combination, you'll need good eyes and good lighting, but once you do, it'll work every time. It's hoped that it won't be required. The money and peace of mind are well worth it. I'm not sure why I didn't think of this sooner, but it beats the "under the doormat" key solution. Fits 1- There are only two keys and nothing else.

When they say it's not a security product, they're not kidding; the order in which you enter your combination doesn't matter! 1 and 3 are interchangeable
3/5

The numbers 2 and 2 are interchangeable. The numbers 3 and 3 are interchangeable. There are a total of 1023 possible combinations as a result of this. While this may appear to be a sufficient number to deter brute-force attacks, it is not. I'm stuck because my main use case for this product is to let a catsitter into my house while *I'm on vacation*. A determined individual could crack such a simple combination in less than two hours. br>br>It's marketed as a convenience product rather than a security product, which I understand, but I don't think the convenience is worth the risk if it's storing the key to my house. The key can still be hidden under the doormat, but this is a slight improvement.
