Questions & Answers

Is there a way to bypass the lock in case of an emergency? My code doesn't seem to be working any longer. ?

If you forget your code, according to what I've read, there's no way to unlock the box. However, here's a quick tip to assist you in reopening it. 1, 6, 2, 7, 3 is the same as 5, 0, 4, 9, 3 in a typical code. Essentially, the code registers "sides," but it also provides numbers to help you hide the code. br>For example, if your code was 12675, it would be left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, left side, right side, right So long as you press a number on the same side as the one you thought you programmed it with, you should be able to unlock it eventually. br>It's not exactly the answer you were looking for, but it'll tide you over until you figure it out.

Is it necessary to use batteries, and where can you find them?

There are no batteries in this device; everything is mechanical.

Is this a cheaper version of the Amazon product? Is this model number available only on Amazon?

This image appears to be the Kidde screwmounted version 001414, whereas the number on this, 001170, indicates an Over the Door mounting in your inquiry. The box shown appears to be the same as the Screw mounted and is a typical Kidde Key Safe, which is very strong and holds 2 or 3 keys, but not large enough for things like a credit card. It is not cheap, but it is the only one I have used for the past 25 years or more due to its heavy duty strength. I recently bought two more Kidde 001414s, which I use to grant gate and house access to forgetful people. This product has never let me down, even when I was sent the wrong product when I ordered a larger version of this box and instead received the Kidde 001414, which I kept instead of returning. Other brand-name boxes aren't nearly as durable as Kidde's.

Is it a three-digit code or a four-digit code?

"Which buttons have been pressed" is the "code" - It doesn't matter what order they're in, and numbers can't be repeated. This means you can choose from 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on. Even a ten-minute timer can be set. digit "code" that consists of simply pressing all of the buttons. There are a total of 1024 possible combinations (if the 0-values are included). button combination), which is comparable to a three-button combination in terms of magnitude. a digit combination in which the order of the digits is important and which allows for repeated numbers (1000 combinations).

The order in which you enter your numbers is completely up to you! The order in which you enter your numbers is completely up to you! It sort of defeats the purpose of the exercise
3/5

The math required to crack the code is far less complicated than cracking a sequential code. Example. The number 5 is your code. It can be typed in any order, as follows: It will open if you dial 7935, 9375, 5739, or any other number. IN ANY ORDER YOU LIKE! You think you've only set one code, but you've actually got quite a few! It's just awful! As an example, consider the following. Are you confident in the quality of your code? 5791 Who's going to guess 5791, for example? However, the most common four-digit code is 1975, and if they entered 1975 into your lock with the code 5791 set, they would be able to open it. IT IS GOING TO WORK! BUY THIS LOCKBOX AT YOUR OWN RISK!.

Proof from the hammer and the realtor! Even with a hammer, it works well and keeps the key safe! Our realtor came over with the photographer to get the photos before putting out the official lockbox when we were selling our house
5/5

He, on the other hand, forgot the code to our side door and was unable to enter. Because I was in a meeting and didn't answer the phone, our realtor became a little concerned because the photographer was on a tight schedule. Finally, I exit my meeting and hand over the door code to the realtor, who regales me with a story about his failed attempt to break into our house without causing any damage. br>br>To see if anything was unlocked, he tried other doors. To see if the windows were unlocked, I tried them. Knowing we had a spare key box, he attempted to break into it, which was securely mounted on a beam beneath our deck. He claimed that he tried everything he could to get into the box - The box was dented from prying it open with a screw driver and hammering it, but it refused to give up the key! br>br>Kicker is that if he had checked his email, he would have seen that the main door code had been emailed to him.

Reviews that do not get to the heart of the matter
5/5

Some reviewers appear to believe that this product is worthless because the numbers can be entered in any order. They also make a big deal out of the fact that each number can only be used once. According to other reviews, the mounting hardware should be "upgraded. " Depending on how many numbers you use, the instructions will tell you how many possible combinations there are. Five numbers, in my opinion, yield the most combinations, which total over 200. br>br>First and foremost, a thief would need to figure out how many numbers you used. What are the chances that they'll figure it out? Then they'd have to try every possible combination of numbers of that length. Always remember to try the open button after entering a series of numbers. As soon as you do so, the lock resets, and you must begin the process all over again. Every attempt a thief makes to use numbers other than the ones you selected wastes time and exposes you to more risk. You don't understand the criminal mind if you believe a thief will sit there and keep trying while also trying to remember which of the 200 possible number sets they've tried without using a large note pad or an excel spreadsheet. Thieves avoid easy targets because they are afraid of being found out. br>br>The cunning ones won't bother; instead, they'll kick in the most obscure door or smash a window with a brick. After wasting time trying in vain to open this box, the stupid ones will do the same. It all comes down to the same thing in the end. If a thief wants to enter your home, they will do so without wasting time attempting to obtain your valuable key. br>br>Up next: Hardware for mounting. The length, size, and strength of the screws included with this box are all adequate. If you use the screws provided, you'll end up with a box that needs to be removed with a sledge hammer, crowbar, or reciprocating saw. All of those methods generate a great deal of noise, and we all know how much thieves enjoy attracting attention. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Even if they are successful in removing the box, they must still open it! br>I can tell you that at the very least, you'll need a hacksaw and a good bench vise. br>br>However, with a cordless angle grinder, I could open this box in about 7 seconds. When was the last time you saw someone suspicious walking around with an angle grinder? br>br>I'm going to say something. If you don't drill pilot holes in the wood for the provided screws, the heads will be stripped when your driver bit "cams-out. " out". Alternatively, Torx screws could be used to eliminate cam-out. out. The fact remains that fastener strength is a non-negotiable. issue. If you still want this box but are worried about any of these issues, mount it out of sight, preferably somewhere where tools won't be able to get any leverage or purchase on it. That's exactly how I went about it. It isn't easily visible, and only my family members are aware of its location. br>br>If that's not the case, this box isn't for you. Purchase a "hide-a-key" rock and place it in your garden. The reason I didn't go that route is that we have a lawn service, and it's highly likely that someone would flip that fake rock over at some point. We also have visitors who stay with us when we are not in town. Telling them which rock to look under is a good idea. Nope. Just get this box, put it somewhere out of sight, and only give out the phone number to people you trust. br>br>As a result, this box is ideal for me. It's built like a tank and is simple to operate. br>br>The only time I'd be concerned about this box is if it was completely missing, because that would indicate that the thief knocked it off, took it, and now has the time and tools to open it. It'd be time to re-evaluate at that point. my locks need to be rekeyed.

This is fantastic! This is the second one I've bought
5/5

Mine arrived a few years ago and was installed near the front door, out of sight. I used it twice a day to get the key to my house, and it has performed admirably. I liked it so much that I bought one for my son's family after my granddaughters locked themselves out of the house twice, and he placed his in a less visible location to be used only in an emergency. This key box is well-made, and it's a good size for a single key, though it could hold more if needed. To keep the key from falling out when the box was opened, I put a piece of Velcro in the box and on the key. It's been in place for a few years, and the key is pulled twice a day, and it's still working perfectly.

This is a weak link
3/5

The box is sturdy, and I'm confident that no one will be able to open it due to the box's design or hardware. br>br>The single biggest flaw is a statement that is misleading: "The key lock safe has easy-to-use locking mechanisms. " use push- There are over 1,000 different personalized button combinations to choose from. " That isn't the case at all. First and foremost, EACH BUTTON CAN ONLY BE USED ONCE, and they are NOT SEQUENCE DEPENDENT. That is, 1234 is the same as 2341, 3412, 4123, 4321, 3214, 2143, 1432, 1324, 3124, and so on. It's clear how the advertised combinations are drastically reduced. This makes it much easier to crack, especially if the number of digits in your password is known. To close it, you'll have to re-enter the code. This is a fantastic idea, but with such a simple code mechanism, you must be extra cautious when entering it. You're probably better off with a three-digit code that you enter a couple of times to make it appear as if you're pressing more buttons (123213 is the same as 123) than a longer code. br>br>It fulfills my basic storage needs, but I wouldn't keep keys to something more valuable, such as my home, in it.
