The unit has an exterior sleeve that slides into the interior sleeve and can be adjusted to fit your specific depth requirements. I installed it through a standard 5" wall (3 1/2" studs, 1/2" sheathing, 1/2" siding, and 1/2" OSB interior wall cover), but it can go up to a 7" wall (2x6 studs with similar coverings), according to my memory. Because my wall was ten inches thick, I had to make a connection between inside and out. It is not an easy task. It's not a problem if your wall is only 8" thick. It's well-made. br>The tricky part is determining the inside vs. outside cut, which I find to be hit or miss. I was successful in getting set up. The exterior wall is brick veneer, followed by a 2" gap, rigid foam, fiberglass with studs, and finally drywall on the interior wall. Mmmmm.
