Questions & Answers

Is this something that can withstand water?

The term "waterproof" has a very specific connotation. No, this is not waterproof. You could dunk it in a pool and it would not get wet.br>br>No, this is not waterproof. It's made to withstand the elements. Which means that if you put it under the eaves on your porch, the contents should stay dry. The contents may become wet if there is a strong wind and rain storm. But it wouldn't be the same if the boxes were simply sitting on your porch. br>br>While a regular mailbox can withstand the elements, it is not waterproof.

Is it possible to secure this with a bolt? What prevents a thief from simply stealing everything?

Yes, it is possible to secure it using bolts. It will also include bolts. It would take a lot of effort to just do it. It has a false bottom that you can fill with sand or bricks, as I did.

What is the front edge (vertical) of the lid's measurement so that I can make 'lift here' letters while I wait for the box to arrive?

You've got a little more than a minute left. 1/2”. That is exactly what I did. I'm awaiting delivery of a 3/4x6 plaque from Amazon. The word "lift" is written here. The majority of delivery people are incapable of determining this on their own.

Is this box available in a larger size from Keter?

Hello, no, this is the only one that is produced.

If delivery services make use of it, it does the job
4/5

AMAZON, ON THE OTHER HAND, IS NOT GOING TO DO IT This box is strong and resistant to the elements. It's well-made and simple to put together. We put a sign on the box indicating how it should be used and requested that delivery services use it. It is used by the United States Postal Service and UPS. FedEx and (surprisingly) Amazon aren't going to do it. However, in some cases, this may not be the case. IMPORTANT NOTE: packages that are taller than 4 inches 5 inches will not be able to reach the safe zone - The mechanism isn't working if the lid won't close. Aside from that, it's great and we're happy with it. Because of the package size restriction and the fact that some carriers refuse to accept it, it receives only four stars. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I've requested a refund from Amazon for this box's purchase price. Amazon is the ONLY major carrier that consistently refuses to use it out of all of the major carriers. When I returned home today, I discovered one FedEx package in the box, one UPS package in the box, and two Amazon packages on the ground in the water outside the box. This is my fifth complaint about this practice, and I have always been assured that it will never happen again.

Love it! This is fantastic! Most Amazon packages are compatible with this item
5/5

It's simple to assemble and extremely durable. I used sand and a weight to fill the bottom. I also put a "Lift lid" vinyl sticker on top of the sign for delivery. This is fantastic!.

It works, but it's not what it's supposed to be
3/5

The item is in good condition. It is well-built and simple to put together. It's also a good size in comparison to other package lockers on the market, and it's attractive. br>br>The issue is that no one seems to want to use it. Only one delivery driver has used the package locker in the last month. br>br>I've experimented with a variety of different signs to try different approaches to messaging, placement, and so on, to the point of absurdity, but no luck. br>br>I even witnessed a driver (via my security system) come up, place a box on the ground, begin to leave, notice the locker, turn around, open it to look inside, and then turn around and leave - The box was left on the floor. br>br>I've set up special delivery instructions with Amazon, UPS, FedEx, and other companies. It is of no consequence.

- br>br>It's easy to argue that the drivers are ignorant, rather than pointing the finger at the product. In this case, this is true. The drivers' heads are clearly slow. br>br>That being said, I believe it is the product's responsibility to educate/convey the messaging that I am clearly incapable of conveying when creating a product in a new / disruptive space that causes a change in behavior.

- br>br>While the product itself is well-made, it serves no purpose for me. It appears that the money was squandered. I'm giving it three stars because I believe the product creator bears some responsibility for resolving this issue. br>br>At the moment, I'm reading through the return policy.

This is preferable to packages that have been stolen
4/5

*Update* 1/15/20br>So far, everything has gone well. It's still accepting packages out in the wild. br>I used an Amazon sign to indicate where packages should be placed in the box. To keep it in place, I simply used thumbtacks. When I am expecting packages, I also put up a similar sign on the door. Finally, I changed my delivery preferences with the major shippers so that packages would be delivered in the box. So far, deliveries have been delivered to the correct box. br>br>Original Reviewbr>A package was stolen from my front porch a few weeks ago. After that, I looked into a variety of options for securing packages that had been delivered. There are a lot of them out there, and the majority of them don't allow you to lock the packages in the box, which defeats the purpose. I would have preferred one that looked like it belonged on the front porch to keep it hidden from would-be burglars, but they didn't have the feature that this one does, which allows the box to slide in but prevents anyone from reaching in to take the package. Now for the review. br>br> I read some of the other reviews and noticed that many people complained about how difficult it was to put it together. Although the instructions were not clear, I was able to follow them and put it together in about 20 to 30 minutes. There were a few broken pieces, and one of the sides was slightly warped, making it difficult for me to get it to work properly. To allow the shelves to move up and down freely, I had to shave down a small area on the inside of one of the sides with a knife and scissors. Also, the way the cables are connected allows the shelves to rise and fall as the lid is raised; I'm not sure how simple or difficult it would be for a thief to cut or remove those cables from the lid, allowing them to reach in and grab a package. br>br>However, as stated in the title of my review, this is preferable to having packages stolen from my front porch. The FedEx delivery man did put the package in the box the same night I assembled it, and it worked. I have a fairly thick lock on the box to ensure that it is difficult to remove. However, only time will tell how well this holds up. I did put some sand in the bottom and a couple of shallow bricks in the bottom to keep it in place, but it still moves around. In the future, I'll probably add more weight to the bottom of it. But first, I'd like to see how well it holds up and how many delivery people actually use it. I plan to purchase a couple of signs instructing delivery personnel to place packages in the Box. Finally, as I previously stated, I am willing to give this a try because it is preferable to having packages left on my front porch and it is more convenient than having packages delivered by someone else. That sort of defeats the purpose of ordering things on Amazon and having them delivered the next day. br>br>It appears that the maximum package size, or total package size, that it can handle is 13 in x 20 in x 18in. The package must be 18 inches tall to close the shelves.

Awesome, but be cautious
5/5

Arrived in many pieces with no instructions, but after several emails back and forth with the company (they were having difficulty finding this item and its instructions—? They eventually found some instructions and sent them to me via email. It's a real drag. When I handled the pieces, they appeared to be of flimsy material, but after my son put it together (which took him about half an hour), it is actually quite sturdy, and I can say that I LOVE this parcel box! Because the lettering on the box isn't very visible, I made a sign out of bright yellow paper, placed it in a sheet protector, and taped it to the top. We chose to fill the bottom compartment with sand to make moving it extremely difficult. For the cabinet, I bought a high-quality combination lock so that family members don't need keys to retrieve packages. In the months that we've had this, we haven't had a package stolen. It won't fit large boxes, but small to medium packages will fit perfectly. Mail carriers started putting our packages inside right away, but UPS is a gamble. They're sometimes so rushed that they don't even notice and leave packages right outside our door. Sigh. Still, once we received the instructions, this was the BEST purchase we've ever made!.
