The smoothness of the edges is confirmed. It was surprising to see how nicely they were Usually I get clipboards with excessive "flashing" around the edges, and sometimes the edges are so sharp I can't even see the letters. They shouldn't have a problem with dry erase markers on them, but I'm not sure why they shouldn't.
Only the colored ones were transparent, so you can see through them, but they are not 100% transparent.
I would say the plastic is hard, but also rather flexible, so that it does not become brittle. Over time, the clipboard will not bend due to its strength.

This clipboard will be used to create gifts for teachers as a teacher appreciation gift. The first two clipboards that we received had been wrapped up in an excellent way, but the other four had scratch marks and objects stuck inside of the clear part of the board. It was frustrating to open the packages only to find that they were broken. What criteria do you use to determine which 2 teachers out of six will receive a nice board and which will receive a scratched board? The boards I made out of the box look terrible and I still have one more board to make, but I'm frustrated with the way the boards look. As a result, I rated it 2 stars because I needed new undamaged clipboards for my project. If you only need clipboards to use on a daily basis and not for a project like mine, then you will be satisfied.
