Questions & Answers
I purchased a set of four pens in total. Each pen was packaged as if it were going to be sold separately, and the set included four of these boxes, each with a different nib size.
For the past 5 years, I've had one - Clean it according to the instructions in the brochure that came with the pen, and it'll be fine.
It worked fine on every paper I tried, but ink bleeding is common, depending on the ink, how it was applied, and the paper's quality. It's too porous if it's too dry. All you have to do is pick a corner and experiment, then use the appropriate tool for the job. It's a balancing act, but isn't that the case with everything?
Selected User Reviews For PILOT Parallel Calligraphy Pen Set, 1.5 mm, 2.4 mm, 3.8 mm and 6 mm with Bonus Ink Cartridge (P9005SET)
I purchased these for my boyfriend and me to doodle with because we both enjoy the sound of calligraphy pens (ASMR, anyone?). ) and were eager to learn how to make use of them. After looking at the single pens, I realized we needed a variety of nib shapes and sizes, so I went with the four-pen set, which was a better value per pen. Each pen includes two ink cartridges (one red and one black), a nib, a barrel, a cap, and a plastic pipette to clean the nibs. It's simple to put the cartridges in; Putting them in the nib and lightly squeezing them a few times will get the ink flowing, but don't squeeze too hard or you'll end up with a huge mess. A few of the pens had issues with ink flow to all of the nib channels, resulting in a skip in the lines at first, but they eventually started working properly. Extra cartridges are inexpensive and simple to replace. A bottle of wine, this set, and a pad of calligraphy paper make for a fantastic evening for two 30-somethings. those who act as if they're in their eighties year- olds! These would make a great first set for a kid.
In the world of calligraphy, this is a game-changer. I bought these as a gift for someone who is just getting started with calligraphy, though these pens may be a little advanced for someone who is just starting out. He will, however, be able to grow into them. The following are some of the advantages of these pens: 1) they are inexpensive, 2) they have a sharp edge, which is important for fine details, 3) the ink doesn't dry out as quickly because these tips are less complicated than more traditional cartridge types of pens, and 4) they are comfortable in the hand; all I can say is that you could spend 10 times as much on pens that will still not write as well as these pens. This is coming from a calligrapher with more than 30 years of experience in the field.
These are fantastic pens. I am not a professional calligrapher, but I enjoy experimenting with it. The smaller nibs are so easy to write with; however, I have trouble keeping the ink flowing evenly out of the larger nibs, despite the fact that they are great. You can either buy ink cartridges or use the blue tampon-like tubes provided to fill your own.
I also like how fine point lines can be drawn using the nib's edge. It's also practical to have different colored caps for different nib sizes. Try these calligraphy pens if you're a calligrapher - You will not be dissatisfied with this purchase.
I saw a video on how to do calligraphy with the parallel pen and decided to buy the set. br>I enjoy doing calligraphy and lettering, and this pen is ideal; the set includes all four sizes and is significantly less expensive than purchasing them separately. Each set includes the pen, two inks, a tool to easily clean out residual ink, a thin plastic-like tool to clear out fibers that may accumulate between the metal nibs, and a nice little pamphlet with instructions and two font types to practice. br>The nibs are flat and flexible, making them ideal for Old English and other styles of calligraphy. For broad strokes, use the wide flat nib, and for thin strokes, just the side. They use a specific ink cartridge and come in a variety of colors. While they claim that ink cannot be refilled, it is actually very simple to do so using a blunt needle and fountain pen ink. There is a video on YouTube that demonstrates how to do it for those who are interested. You can also easily hack the nib with a dremmel-style tool, as demonstrated in several videos. br>br>The pen itself is made entirely of plastic, with the exception of the metal nib. Each of the two ink colors is included in the set. If you decide to purchase refills, they are reasonably priced and come in 12-packs. I recommend purchasing at least one set so that you can refill with your own colors if necessary. br>br>I'm so happy with these pens that I ordered two more sets to do ombre lettering with them. I only wish I'd known about these sooner because they're great for lettering and drawing. Get the whole set; it'll save you money and you'll need all four sizes.
I ordered this set from Spot the Deal and received all four pens, as opposed to previous shipments that only included one. I include this only because there are multiple sellers selling the same product, and I'm not sure how reviews work for specific products/sellers or if they combine them. br>br>I'm a big fan of these pens. It takes some practice to get used to how they work, as different angles affect the way they write. I believe the 2. is the best option for most calligraphy uses. The number four is ideal, and the number one is perfect. The normal thicker down stroke is not very thick, and the number 5 is a little thin. The 3. If you're not careful, the number 8 can turn into a black blob, but it can be useful for larger writing. However, if you need to write in a large font or create a poster, the 6. The cap on these pens is the biggest flaw. br>br>The cap is the biggest flaw on these pens. It fastens with a screw, which is a good thing. However, once it is removed, there is nowhere for it to go. The barrel's design, while comfortable to write with, prevents the cap from being attached to the end. As a result, it just floats around aimlessly. I can't clip the cap anywhere because there isn't one on it, and I'm afraid I'll lose it.
I can't say anything bad about these pens, even though I don't like the new packaging design. When it comes to design, Pilot parallel pens are nothing short of revolutionary. They're incredibly simple, long-lasting, simple to use, and simple to clean. The inks can be mixed and matched, and they come in a variety of sizes. I could go on for hours about these topics. These pens are essential if you want to do broad edge calligraphy. br>br>.
Smooth writing, clean lines, excellent inflow, and they're also pleasant to hold! I purchased the 2nd once I had purchased the first. 4 mm I had to get this set and refills right away. This product comes highly recommended!.
