Questions & Answers

Is there a good paper recommendation you can give me? (Intended for use with Gelli plates. ?

Papers like deli paper, copy paper, rolls of exam table paper, mixed media paper, and watercolor paper are all available. There is a lot of clean up involved when I make prints, so I usually break out all my paints, inks, and stencils and spend at least three hours working on them. For my favorite, I like the deli (try both sides to see which you like best) but then I will use a brayer and roll off excess ink onto the exam and/or copy paper to create cool backgrounds. Mix media paper isn't something you should spend a lot of money on, just buy the cheapest or student-grade paper and find that the thinner the paper is, the better the print will look. Despite my love of watercolor, I'm not so fond of it -- It does not make as good a print The box of 1,000 sheets from our grocery outlet store, which costs about $15 a box, is shared by me and another person. To get the other papers, I'll wait until Aaron Bros has a good sale or use a coupon to grab their student versions of mixed media and water color papers. Since I only bought one roll of exam paper, I buy it through Amazon. For $1 or less, pick up a big book from Good Will or a thrift shop I really like the backgrounds she makes. paper weight is a medium weight, but experiment before you buy anything in bulk to see which you prefer.

Is shipping going to cost me seven dollars?

The shipping cost for our products is $8 flat.

Let me ask you a question In order to get an 8x10 square as stated in the description, how does one go about doing so?

There is only one simple answer They should have put rectangles instead of squares. A square would be 8 x 10 but not 8 x 10. That's an oversight on their part either you get the rectangle or you hunt for a square, of which I am unsure if there are square gel plates at all.

In your opinion, how important is the claim shell that protects the gel printing plate from the chemicals used during the process? The shippin' damage to mine was significant. ?

Despite the fact that it protects the surface, the clam shell cannot be considered magical. It is not a problem if the shell has a small crack, but a crushed shell requires a different storage solution. If you have a heavy plastic plate or a glass pan, you can store it in between two pieces of heavy plastic. You have to keep your album fairly flat, cover it with mylar, and never store it near an absorbent surface or in anything that may absorb moisture. You can ruin the gel plate by slapping paper towels on it. It contains oils.

BREAK THE LAW! In addition to rules, there are also regulations
4/5

As a whole, this is a great product. I learned how to use them from YouTube These are the key points they do not mention, and they are quite important. It's very easy to ruin the plate the first time you use it if you don't understand these points. #1 make sure you do not lay the Gelli plate over any graphite or lines. The plate absorbed the graphite completely after a pencil drawing was placed over it to use as a guide It's the whole drawing imprinted on the plate, and it cannot be cleaned (that drawing is on the gel plate, not the paper, and it won't be removed. In the end, soap and water with a strong cloth did nothing but wear away the glossy surface, making the computer Totally destroyed. It is very, very fast for #2 acrylics to dry after they have been There is no way to work on the surface instantly. I later realized that a retardant was the key to success that none of the videos I watched recommended. If you apply acrylic direct, it will dry lightning fast, and the thinner the layer (recommended), the more quickly In spite of watching the videos, they don't explain this vital point to you. ****#3 if you use something such as a soft tool to write into the dry acrylic, they will scratch it. During the painting of the gel plate, the paint is skipped over. My plan was that by spraying water over the dry acrylic paint, it would loosen the dried The only improvement is that it makes things worse and printing to paper produces Please use acrylic water based printing inks for #4. There is a longer standing time with acrylic paint. Both acrylic and acrylic paints must be retarded before application. The amount of it is a lot I just got my third one since my first two had rusted out too far to salvage. The other plates are quite nice. I know now what I should have done, but I made a mistake.

Collage backgrounds and postcards can be created with Gelli plates
5/5

I have created three gelli plates so far. My two larger ones were given away when I moved, but I had to keep the 8 x 10 We have returned to the original inch size. The flexibility it offers is appealing to me Creating monoprints is one of my favorite things to do It is always fun to use the background in collages. I am not sure how easy it is to maintain the plate. Some people wipe the paint off with a few strokes in videos. My painting takes a lot longer, and I have to be careful with the paint because it 'There is one point in your instruction that I do not understand - While they tell you to cover the plate with plain printer paper when you're not using it, they also warn you against using absorbent paper as a storage medium. It is recommended that you use absorbent paper for printing. It stained very badly after a couple of hours, so instead of using regular newspaper I used deli paper.

I think that addicted to Gelli is a good description
5/5

'Addicted to Gelli' is their catchphrase, and that's actually In doing my paper crafts and card making, I wanted to try something fine art. The results were very impressive, and I was in love with the result right away. There are no two pulls from this plate alike, and that's part of what makes it so addicting. Once I start using this thing, I look up and find two hours have gone by! I was totally absorbed by it. This is an easy sport to learn that is also easy and inexpensive to get started in, and it is perfect for the young, seniors, and anyone with a disability of the upper body. It is often difficult for me to squirt acrylic paint from the tube, roll a brayer over the plate, and swish a Q-tip around, so I do my best to do this with my fingers. Then gently rub the paper on top of the plate after tipping or pressing the stencil into the paint. Making this investment has been one of my best decisions in crafting over the.

What a great day
5/5

This is a lot of fun. Even though I freely admit that I am easily persuaded by videos of crafty demonstrations, everyone who has tried one of these Gelli Plates raves about how much fun they are. So I was just as easily persuaded (by myself) to get one for myself. In the past, I had made a homemade version using foam rubber wrapped in plastic which worked OK, but when this beauty arrived, it was a whole different story. Having printed and printed and printed, I realized they were all right - it is the best. So many great ideas on these videos that you could spend your entire day just trying them out. The product is beautiful, well packaged and I like it so much that I convinced my friend to try it and it arrived today. So next week we will have a big girl's playdate, make messes, laugh, and hopefully pull off a few spectacular prints.

It has been a wonderful time
5/5

Gelli plates last for a very long time. I've had my first one for almost five years, and I still use it. You can also enjoy years of printing fun if you take good care of the plate and follow the basic instructions. It will not affect the performance, so if you decide to experiment with dyes, you will be able to Only the most basic materials are water based acrylic paints (acrylics) in a few different colors, paper (can even be junk mail) and a tool for spreading paint (brayer is common, but a plastic palette knife, brush or old gift card can also be used). Monoprinting is a fun activity for kids from 3 to 103 and can make wonderful memories when you do it I bought another plate since I already own one. You might wonder why I made another purchase. Some of the techniques are a little impatient for me, so I like to have a second plate so I can continue painting while the other plate dries.

The new addiction in my life
5/5

There is no denying it, I am addicted to Gelli art. As soon as I learned about this process of monoprinting, I made my own plate, which lasted for a single painting session. Despite the fact that I am 62 years old, I have had more fun with this purchase than I ever expected! One of the things that makes this process so enjoyable is that it is simple, there is plenty of information on the Internet to help you along, and once you have your plate and brayer, the rest of your supplies are not expensive. If you have acrylic craft paint and household items on hand, you become an instant artist!.

Spending craft dollars is the best decision I've ever made- Buy a brayer while you are at it! There is so much fun to be had with this gelli plate
5/5

You can watch hours and hours of gelli plate tips and techniques videos on YouTube. Whenever you think you have done everything with a particular item, it seems that someone will find another method of doing it. Images from magazines can be transferred and used for backgrounds, you can create gift wrap from it, you can use it in your art journal, and my favorite thing is that you can make prints from leaves and feathers using this technique. To create texture and patterns in your prints, you can also use rubber stamps, stencils, and pretty much any household item (as long as it won't damage the gelli plate). To date, I have only used acrylic paints with my gelli plate I am not sure whether inks will work. Make sure you have a brayer handy. The speedball I got is great and I'm very.
