Selected User Reviews For 87526 Keyboard Tray, 26"x15-3/8", Cherry (New Version)

I bought it months ago and am not happy with it Others in the review have warned me that installation of this keyboard tray is extremely difficult
3/5

I thought that flipping my custom desk upside down for installation was a small hassle in comparison with everything else that I was doing in my office. Installing this program was no easy task. As a result, my husband was less than thrilled about the process. It's disappointing because even though it's a generally decent game, it didn't live up to my expectations The platform is a good size but most of it remains under the desk and cannot be used. The drawer is fully extended, and you cannot even fit a standard keyboard in it. Additionally, there are other things to consider. According to the product description, the thing will lock into That's not really the case. The left side of the drawer holds itself in place so that it doesn't open on its own when you push it under the desk. My guess is that we would not have run into a problem because our floors are well leveled. As the drawer is fully withdrawn, the right side of the drawer kind of locks in It's sort of like that. On the left side, there is a lot of play, as it does not lock in any way. If you are typing with a light touch, it is fine. Avoid getting aggressive with it, however, or it will rock out of its location, and you will lose it. The problem really manifests itself when you grab for the mouse or lean forward to turn on the light, for example. If you bump the board a bit, or even just a little bit, when reaching for the mouse, then it slides under the desk, unlocked. In a similar manner, if you reach for anything on your desktop and bump the "drawer" even slightly, there goes the keyboard. When something is "locked in place," I expect that it will be nearly impossible to move until it is unlocked. It takes me a long time to pull my keyboard out and jerk the right side--a process that wastes a lot of time. A lock is so much harder to unlock than an unlocked one. In addition to having my desktop at a good height for drawing or sorting papers, the keyboard is tucked away neatly and keeps me from bumping into it. I like how that part works out. It is so pleasant to walk into a tidy room when I start work and to have a clean desk. This is a good way to start a work session. As long as I don't need it, the keyboard stays tucked away. My desktop also looks great because of the surface color and pattern as it blends well with some of the dark cabinetry under it. Dark colors help to conceal it as well as a keyboard when they are The cons are that there is none, of any kind, that can be done to the keyboard. You cannot lower it so that a taller mouse can be used, nor can you extend the keyboard. My file cabinets can extend fully, and the drawer for papers is also on double glide metal rails. I would have appreciated if the same kind of rails had been used for this shelf/drawer, which is actually used more frequently. Since I had hoped that I would get used to the little quirks of this product and really be able to enjoy it, I did not review it after I purchased and installed If it simply stayed put I could forgive the lack of depth it provides, that was never an issue, though I liked the idea of being able to use it for the Wacom Sketch pad and also a keyboard. That would not work with the unstable surface, even if it extended I think it would be great to have a locking mechanism to support the shelves until intentionally released, which is a real locking mechanism one could engage. The desk would be replaced, but I have no intention of disassembling it again and turning it upside down. * Update after 18 months of continued In recent years, the lock has progressively become more difficult to operate. Using my cell phone to set a stop watch, I timed the failures by locking the keyboard open from across the room, setting the stop watch and then watching the results The keyboard tray loses its lock on average after the keyboard tray has been empty for one minute and fifteen seconds with nothing touching the keyboard and nothing else in the room moving. As a result, I am switching to gimmicks like bull dog clips and other workarounds to prevent the collapse from happening. As a result, I rate this as an absolute failure. This product is a waste of money.

Search elsewhere for a wider selection and a lower price
3/5

Dimensions of the product are off by 2 inches according to the website. And of course if I add the hardware dimension that connects the table, it would be an inch extra. This means that technically it is 1 inch off. The keyboard angle would be fine if you only wanted it for the keyboard, but if you wanted to attach a mouse pad to it, you would have to rotate the keyboard angle. On the picture you can also see a small keyboard. Overall, I think the quality is good. In the near future, I don't expect it to stop working. If you're thinking about purchasing this, I recommend you look elsewhere to buy it. Since the price on Amazon is so high, I recommend you look elsewhere. Despite never opening this, I was forced to keep it after the seller, MyOfficeInnovations, was unable to cancel and charged me the full restocking fee even though it could not be canceled. Kindle has been on the market for 15 years. This is the first time I have worked with a business that is sketchy. Those who continue to search, good luck with your efforts. If you are looking for something else, I recommend going somewhere else.

The quality of the product should be good
4/5

Make sure you don't make the same mistake as I did with the assembly! I had a desk with a keyboard/mouse tray that eventually broke on one of my older desks. The desk is perfectly good, so we ordered this to fix it up instead of replacing it. It was fairly straightforward to assemble, and when installing it will definitely be easier with two people. The only thing I dislike about the assembly instructions is that they are a bit complicated. After assembling exactly according to the instructions, I had only 1 inch clearance between the desk and the top of the tray after it had been My keyboard and mouse are too high for my comfort when sitting, so I don't feel comfortable typing or even using them. I thought it would be a brilliant idea to see if I can adjust them while I wrote this review, and I was able to, although I found it very difficult once they were screwed together in my desk, so I had to remove them and start over. It's a great product, but you need to take a moment to consider how much clearance you need when getting to step two and adjust accordingly using the four screw holes for each hanger. There are four screw holes on each hanger so you can adjust the height of the hanger by screwing into them! Don't just do what the picture shows without thinking things through! Apart from that, the product looks very good, I'm quite satisfied with it now I've figured out how to set it up to work properly. "Ikea-style" products are not the only ones available It is "like" assembly (you put it together and then realize you have to remove it and reassemble it As for step 2), I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend it.

The surface is nice, the hardware is questionable, but the instructions are fine
4/5

Thanks to the instructions that came with my tray, I can get started immediately! Instructions are not the most intricately drawn up, but almost anybody can figure them out after reading them. The mahogany I ordered did not match the mahogany on my Flexispot adjustable desk. I am fine with this since I couldn't see much anyway since the tray was just wide enough for my keyboard and mouse. My leery view of the hardware is in great part due to the hardware. is an adjustable plate that holds the mounting points to the rails, but is only held together by a screw and little nubs that keep the plate centered. There won't be an issue with that, but I could see the screws that hold the rail in place with holding the heavy tray a problem. It is very difficult to see the heads of the screws. These two screws should stay in place since they fit into holes that are supposed to It should be noted that the third screw fits through an oblong slot on the rail, so if it is torqued down too much, it can easily pass through. There is a good chance you will replace those screws with larger ones in the near future. It is impossible to imagine a good smack on the tray will not cause problems. Unfortunately, I did not have the option to flip my desktop over before mounting this. I swear I had to measure and double check and measure and swear and tweak a lot. I'm the one who needs to fix the problem, not the manufacturer. In general, I find the tray itself to be of good quality, and the majority of the hardware itself is decent. I would just like it to be a little.
