If this item is hit repeatedly hard enough that it makes a very loud sound, will it break?

Despite my size, I am a big guy. The tallest person I know is 6'0" and weighs 248 lbs. Since I have worked on the farm for most of my life, I have pretty strong muscles. It has been my experience that banging this gavel loud enough cleared a room with over 200 people that I could hear over their angry shouts. You won't be able to break me.

The head and handle can be unscrewed? Is the plate separate from the base to be engraved?

However, many customers get their local engraving/award shop to engrave the gavel for them. The handle does not unscrew, but it does not come apart either. You can do it with no problem if you're an engraver!

I am disclosing my interests My coworker recently entered the workforce after completing her clerkship, so this was a gift for her. It soon became clear that this was a decorative object I wanted to get for the law firm in which she works. It's pretty to look at the gavel By adding a touch of elegance to the otherwise judicious design, the brass gives the piece a touch of elegance. Also, when the sound block is tapped, a solid sound is produced. The first thing Nancy Pelosi should have done when she assumed the position was to take this one!.

A very good price for a wonderful product

The gavel is well balanced and feels good. A good grip can be found on the handle of the gavel. It just arrived to me, so I can't tell how it will hold up once a 17 year old, Senior Class President bangs on it for a lol, but I know you'll have a blast. In a higher priced model, I am not sure if the sound block has a fabric backing, but I can see how that might enhance the sound. The DVD is definitely worth checking out for my nephew, a potential lawyer, and maybe even a judge!.

There were signs of prior usage on both the gavel and sound block, as well as a rather poor level of quality control

It arrived with discoloration on the brass strip on the gavel, as well as scratches on the spot that had discoloration. Several dings were visible on the sound board. the item had already been used and was probably a return, so they tried to pass it off to someone else. It is impossible to control the quality of products.

A wooden piece does not match the others

There is some discord in the wood grain and color on some of the sections, so please keep that in mind if aesthetics are important to you. The item has been returned to the sender.

A gavel is a subject I have no idea how to answer. I used a wrap for looks, but beyond that it performs well. I have wrapped the handle for better sound, but aside from that it works as it should.

There was a break in the first half of the gavel head

When it was used for the first time, half of the gavel head separated from the rod. It was supposed to be held on by threads but they weren't strong enough. With a bit of epoxy and 10 minutes, I was able to fix it, but I shouldn't have had to.

As far as we can tell, the glue on the handle was not As well, the brass ring moved back and forth every time it was touched. If you plan to order glue from Amazon, ensure that you order it from their website. It is fair to say that the gavel is less effective than the glue used to repair it, but it did do the job.
