It has a hinged stand. It is also quite wide.

It is just the marker, but we like ours so much! Birthday messages, menu or welcome messages for company, or I had a lot of I wouldn't want to clutter it up with magnets!

I had to buy another one right away! Guests can use the menus to get a taste of the dishes, but can also use the note for love notes, celebrations, as a family reminder, holidays, etc. The number of users is one million! Also, I gave it as a wedding gift, and they were delighted to get something so different and useful.
