Having never done it on a metal board, I am certain it will be ok if it is inserted in the same manner I use it with felt boards. Two of the felt boards I bought are extremely useful to me.

However, for this purpose, you cannot use this product. I was looking forward to being able to write things on my board completely in one size, but unfortunately, you can not. You can find them in all different sizes and styles. It's a nice set-up, and the letter quality is good. However, the size issue is a bit of a letdown.
The image shows what I mean. This might not be exactly what you need if you are trying to match them with another set of 1' letters. I have so far been satisfied with these boards, but the tabs on the back are VERY small and barely fit into the felt cafe board. They hold in place well The felt would help hold the photos on a plastic cafe board, but I am not sure if they would hold on. were already cut apart and sorted alphabetically into the large and small compartments (not labeled) at the beginning of the case. As far as I can tell, my set has no poorly cut apart ones. It may be difficult to get letters out with larger fingers because the compartments are quite small. My own preferred tool was a tweezers.
