This lamp is ideal for areas where a large lamp with a shade isn't desired or required. It took me a few tries to find the right bulb for it because the shade is clear and most bulbs don't work well without causing blindness. To save energy, I wanted an LED bulb, but they were all far too bright. When I was redecorating my daughter's room, I came across this item. The lamp arrived and was simple to put together, but I felt the plastic screw ring that holds the glass fixture to the lamp was poorly attached to keep the glass in place. It felt sloppy because the female side of the threads was too large for the male side of the threads, and the design was poor. I tightened the plastic screw ring by hand, being careful not to break the glass by overtightening. It never stayed in place, and the glass wobbled a little. I noticed the ring was "unwinding" and the glass fixture was becoming increasingly loose after a few weeks. I thought it was dangerous, so I unplugged it and went back to gently tightening the ring. When I had completed this task. The lightbulb fixture dislodged from the socket, and the black and white wires were dislodged as well. The wires couldn't be reconnected because there was no way to do so. I contacted Amazon, who issued a refund, and I placed a new order for a lamp. There are no issues with this one. Unlike the first lamp ordered, the plastic screw ring fit perfectly and was very snug with a hand tightening. We are extremely pleased with the lamp and the replacement.
