The lamp has a height of 26 inches when I am using it on the window sill in this video. Around 22 inches from where it was stood, the lamp bent over to hit me about 9 inches from where it stood. Using it this way works great for my application, but to bend it out over a desk more than 9 inches on my display would reduce it from its full 26-inch height. Please consider the following points when making your decision.

Because I have a corner desk in the basement with no light, I wanted a small light, one that didn't require hard wiring, to put on the desk. The problem was solved in this way. This falls off no matter how tight I tighten it or how smooth a surface is. In addition, the flexible part generally slides down no matter which direction I bend it. The light has to be moved a lot, so this was not the right product for me. Instead of a flex floor light, I am getting a wall light.

I find it very helpful in seeing the keyboard on a desk top computer. I also find that the different levels of light and softer light work great for both day and night uses.
