Before you open the box, the pieces are already scattered inside. br>br>The item, which was made of laminated particle board, was slightly damaged, which could simply be a defect or a quality control issue. The laminate on one of the base's edges is slightly warped. There are no pilot holes for the casters to screw into the bottom. br>br>It's so minor that I probably wouldn't mention it if it weren't for the overall experience, but it does add fuel to the fire. br>br>There are no pilot holes for the casters to screw into the bottom. Instead of risking another bad experience by trying to tap the screws, I drilled my own. Mine, too, came without instructions, as other reviewers have noted. br>br>If you're looking for something positive to say, it does come with a small screwdriver that I didn't use, as well as a few extra screws, one large and two small, of the two sizes it comes with. br>br>In retrospect, I wouldn't pay more than ten dollars. 15 for this, but I had to pay a lot more. It's not worth the trouble.
The stand should function reasonably well once it's put together, but here's the catch: assembly. To begin with, the instructions (I assume they are instructions) are written in Chinese. Second, the vertical side holes are excessively large - As a result, the stand does not automatically align. Because of the slop in the holes, they must be aligned before the screws are tightened. If the holes were smaller, the stand would be more stable. br>br>However, the most serious issue is that the caster holes are not pre-drilled. drilled. Because the masonite-like material has a hard finish that makes it impossible to start the screws by hand, you'll need a 3/32" drill bit and a power drill.
Ok, one of the two I ordered had some finish chips on the side pieces, but I needed them the next day, so I ignored it because I wouldn't be able to see them anyway. The next problem was that there were no instructions, which was not too bad because it was simple to figure out. My biggest issue was that the casters had no starter holes; finding one was difficult because the wheel kept swinging around and blocking me; by the time I finally got two of them screwed on, my hands were hurting. I don't usually engage in tool-related activities. It came with a cute little screwdriver, but the handle could have been a little bigger to make it easier to hold. It worked really well once I got everything together.
It was just about the right size for my computer. I'm not sure how accurate the internal measurements are. br>br>It's unmistakably a Chinese product, but it's also quite durable. I have a massive 60 pound steel computer case that I believe is well supported.
All of the components arrived. The sides, on the other hand, were oak, while the base and back were brown (the color I requested)- As a result, the set was mismatched.
It's sturdy enough to support a 20212 Dell XPS Tower next to my AV Center on the floor. My ZOOM conferences are displayed on a Big Screen TV using the computer. It's difficult to get excited about a wheeled platform with a computer mounted on it, but it'll suffice for my purposes.
It's a simple structure, but the instructions aren't very clear, and there are no indications of where screws should go on the actual MDF pieces, so you're left guessing. It does the job I need it to do after a little difficulty putting it together.
It does exactly what it says. The unit is simple to put together. Many others are unable to accommodate a wider tower width. When it comes to weight, be careful.
