two 5-foot bookcases and shelf bookcases Shelving units Two more. You know I'm a fan because a shelf case is on its way. However, there are a few critical steps you must complete before you can be satisfied with the final product. I've written a review for this book in both the 2- and 3-star categories. 5-shelf and If you're seeing this for the second time, please note that my cases are oiled walnut, so you'll need to make appropriate changes to my tips if your cases are a different color. 1. br>br> There is a small chances of being shipped a unit in 100% perfect condition, but if’re’lucky enough to get one’that’s flawless, you’ll’ding it% One of my tall cases had a 1-inch gap between the shelves. During shipment, an inch-long divot was carved out of the front edge of the middle shelf, and it couldn't be hidden. This Amazon item worked perfectly to solve the issue: br>br> While there is a "walnut" marker, I found it to be too dark once it had soaked into the exposed pressboard; the "cherry" marker, on the other hand, worked perfectly on my oiled walnut cases. When you order your bookcase, I recommend ordering the touchup markers as well. These markers are fantastic, and I've used them on other pieces of furniture in my home. If your color isn't oiled walnut, go one shade lighter than you think it should be, and if it's too light, cover it with a darker marker. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br Many of the shelves' edges are made up of two laminate pieces that meet at a 90-degree angle. They are then trimmed in the factory at a 45-degree angle. They appear to be OK, but not perfect, and they detract from the illusion that these are solid wood cabinets. Make those edges disappear by running your marking pen along the entire length of the edge. This is especially true at the very tops of all the 2-story buildings. bookcases on the shelves 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. There's only one way to wreak havoc on your shelves, I've discovered. When you're screwing the top molding piece to the top shelf, you'll have that opportunity. You'll be toast if you overtighten those screws. There's nothing you can do about the screw pushing up and cracking the laminate on the top shelf, and there's nothing you can do about it. Because these screws are holding a decorative piece in place rather than a structural one, tighten them only until the molding is secure. 4. br>br> Use your discretion, but the plastic nail starter that comes with the 5-pack of nails is a good place to start. For the birds, there's a shelf unit. I didn't have any issues with the nails because I used my fingers and my judgment in deciding where to place them. 5. br>br> The instructions say to put together the 5-piece set. The front of the shelf bookcase faces the ground. That is something with which I strongly disagree. I built both of my large bookcases face up, then turned them over and supported them with Styrofoam packing pieces when it was time to nail the back piece. br>br>That's all there is to it. These bookcases offer excellent value for money, and if you follow my instructions, you'll be very happy with the results. I've attached a photo.
The bookshelf is a solid piece of furniture. Solid color is a nice touch. They are made of solid wood rather than particle board, and there were no chips or missing parts. These bookcases were purchased in pairs. My first attempt went off without a hitch. The second box had a problem with panels that had holes that were too small for the dowels to fit through, causing them to be misaligned. I called Sauder and told them about the mishap. They checked the purchase and sent replacements right away. I received them in less than 48 hours. It took me an hour to put together each bookshelf. Before you start putting things together, double-check your inventory.
These are fantastic. I bought three of them to put behind our couch in our living room as game shelves. My husband was able to put them together with relative ease - The only thing that went wrong was that the top is quite thin, so when he tightened the screw on the first one, it nearly popped through the top. However, after that small lesson, he didn't try to tighten as much, and the others turned out beautifully. We've had them for a few months and they look great! They're also sturdy enough to withstand three kids constantly grabbing games and throwing them back in!.
The dark wood is beautiful and matches the others so well that the difference is barely noticeable.
The bookcase is appealing to me because of its color, design, and overall quality. The top shelf, unfortunately, has a flaw in its design. The front top piece is attached to the top by screws. The screws can be pushed through the top because of how the guide holes are drilled. As a result, the top has two holes in it. It's unsightly. They could have easily made the holes so that the top could not be damaged, or they could have provided shorter screws. Very let down.
Well. You'd think that at least one of the two products you bought wouldn't be broken based on statistics. This is, however, why I do not participate in lottery games. The top shelf of both bookcases was cracked. One of them (shown) is extremely important and is located on the upward-facing area. The other has a downward-facing crack that will still jeopardize the top's integrity. It took a lot of effort to get everything out of the boxes, and I'm not going to do it again. I won't bother putting this together unless Sauder sends me two new tops (uncracked, please).
My new bookshelf has made me happy. I purchased it to serve as a sort of foyer table for my apartment, as well as a bookshelf. It's made of particle board, but it's heavy and durable.
Pros: It's sturdy, it looks nice, and it wasn't too expensive (I paid $70 for it). 99), it does what I want it to do, it arrived a few days early, and it was delivered to my door (I live upstairs). br>br>Cons: Putting it together (especially aligning the m49 piece) was a bit of a pain in the keester. Mine had the pre-installed software already installed. I had to drill my own holes because the holes were a little off. I'm glad I bought a drill not long ago. It took a long time for me to put it together on my own. Overall assessment: br>br> It's well worth the money I spent on it. It's actually a little bigger than I expected (but that's not a complaint). Because of the m49 snafu, I only docked one star. I'm new to the hole power drill world, but if you know your way around a power drill, the assembly won't take long. This is something I would advise potential buyers to look into.
