Don't be fooled by the fact that it says it's made of wood. PARTICLEBOARD is the name of the game. While particleboard is made of wood chips, it is not true wood, and it has the following safety concerns:br>br>There are safety concerns in both the manufacturing and use of particleboard. When particleboard is machined (e.g., to make furniture), fine dust and chemicals are released. (e.g., routing or sawing). Many countries have established occupational exposure limits due to the dangers of wood dusts. [3] When cutting particle board, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide (in the case of amino resins), and phenol (in the case of phenol-based resins) can all be released. Formaldehyde resins are a type of formaldehyde. [4]br>br>The slow release of formaldehyde over time is another safety concern; in 1984, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development set construction standards in response to concerns about high indoor levels of formaldehyde in new manufactured homes. Formaldehyde emissions have come primarily from particleboard (PB), medium density fibreboard (MDF), oriented strand board (OSB), and laminated flooring. As a result of consumer and woodworker pressure, PB and MDF were made available in "no added formaldehyde" (NAF) versions, but these were not widely used as of 2015. Many other building materials, including furniture finishes, carpeting, and caulking, emit formaldehyde and urea-based compounds. Foam insulation containing formaldehyde, which is prohibited in Canada for use in residential closed cavity walls. This slim wood shelving unit is one of my favorite pieces of furniture. For months, I've been on the lookout for a slim, tall, and understated unit. My Amazon searches. I was directed to Mado 3- by com. I added it to my wish list and waited for the price to drop before ordering it. The product arrived with all of its parts, and I was able to put it together in thirty minutes by following the (English) simple instructions. A screwdriver was the only tool I needed (hardware was provided). The material is sturdy, the shelves can be adjusted to any height, and the support panels keep my belongings from falling out. The unit fits perfectly in a small space in my entry hall. Overall, a beautiful shelving unit made of high-quality materials that saves space. How often do you place an order and receive exactly what was described and what you expected? This is a reasonably priced utilitarian very small open bookcase that looks pretty good for its price. Like almost 100% of low cost RTA (ready to assemble) furniture these days it% It is simply unrealistic to expect to be able to purchase any affordable furniture made of real hardwood these days. When a product is described as being made of wood, it is meant to distinguish it from metal, plastic, or glass. br>br>Once you accept that all low-cost furniture is going to be made of manmade materials, the only thing that matters is how well they make it look and how sturdy it is. br>br>On both counts, this one is far superior to the average. The MDF is compressed more tightly than others I've seen, some of which appear to be sponge-like; this one is more solid. And in terms of durability, it all depends on how they join the pieces together. The post and cam method of assembly is common in this type of furniture, which I have always found to be cheap and ineffective. This one takes a more straightforward approach to assembly, with the pieces bolted together directly. I always assume I'll never disassemble RTA furniture again, so I use a high-quality wood glue wherever wood pieces come into contact, and after assembling this bookcase, I can say it's surprisingly sturdy. I appreciate how they went out of their way to include matching hole plugs for a professional appearance. A rubber mallet is recommended for lightly tapping them in. They did not, however, come with any kind of feet, so I added my own felt pads to protect my wood floors. br>br>Here's one last piece of advice I've picked up from years of assembling furniture: don't fully tighten anything until the whole thing is put together. When you're finished, place the piece on a hard, flat floor surface and roll it over on each edge to square it off before tightening everything down. This will ensure that it stands straight on your floor and does not wobble. br>br>Be aware that this is a small piece, so pay attention to the measurements. While this item is returnable (it says so right below the price), you don't want to spend an hour putting it together only to discover it doesn't fit where you want it. For me, it's exactly what I needed; I have a small space that I wanted to make more useful, and this fits the bill perfectly. br>br>This is a better-than-average value for the price when compared to other RTAs I've purchased, and I've purchased quite a few, so I like it and recommend it.

Both are incorrect; the shelves are chipboard with a plastic woodgrain veneer covering. "Made in China" is clearly written on the box. "br>br>According to Amazon, the manufacturer has marked this item as "unreturnable. " Not surprising, given that, despite the styrofoam packaging, I doubt it could withstand being sent twice.

I'd say there are no words to describe how difficult it was for me to assemble this shelf unit; However, there are words to describe it, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to post this review if I did. The shelf unit's components are extremely durable and attractive. These are better than most I've seen because they're finished on all sides and don't have any chips or scuffs when they arrive. Unfortunately, the unit I received had a subpar construction design. I've built a lot of shelf units and other furniture before, and I always lay out and double-check all of my parts and pieces before starting, so I'm not a novice when it comes to putting things together. The issue was that the hole placement on all of the boards was slightly off, making it extremely difficult to screw the boards together. I still have a couple of really painful blisters on my right hand from the effort it took to build this two days later. I'm still giving it three stars because it's a nice-looking, sturdy shelf unit now that it's all put together. However, due to the difficulty in assembling it, I would not buy another one.
This is the first thing I've come across that fits my criteria. It also appears to be well-made and good value for money.
It took me less than 15 minutes to put it together, it's very sturdy, and it came with a bonus. I was able to find baskets that were a perfect match.
As a result, when assembling, keep in mind that the bottom and top shelf screw placement differs. I didn't quite get it at first because I was watching TV at the same time, but once I figured it out, my alignment issue vanished. Then came the easy and quick assembly. The unit is now located next to another, larger unit that is similar to it. It was the perfect fit for the space, it looks great, and once the items are on the shelves, it will be very useful.
