It is heavy and solid. There is strong bottom paneling on the drawers, not thin paneling like on other furniture I have purchased in the past. The drawers open smoothly, even when they are filled with objects. As a whole, the design and functionality are excellent. While there are a few positives, there are also a few negatives. There were a few loose and missing screws on mine, even though it was assembled. There were a few pieces that needed to be tightened and glued on the drawers and slides. Perhaps the problem was caused by shipping, and the product should now hold up in the future. While I was okay with the minor repairs and didn't want to deal with the hassle of exchanging it, it is something to keep in mind if you order. There is a color difference between the edges of the cabinet body and the drawer fronts. Also, in the drawers, the color on the sides does not match the drawer fronts. It doesn't bother me much, but I do notice the color difference and it makes the final product appear cheap and drab.
Despite the fact that the drawer slides are good, the lock works well, and the casters roll smoothly. Although, you will need a screw gun to assemble the parts, since these screws are only pre-tied Four screw holes will need to be drilled in the casters. Drill two of those four holes. Make sure to consider the weight as well. The box, as well as this thing, is very heavy, so you will probably need to ask someone to help you move it.
I recently started a very small business, so the filing cabinet and something with drawers were essential for the small office. I purchased the 2-drawer filing cabinet and the lateral file.
