Let me start by saying that I've built and installed a LOT of IKEA furniture, including an entire kitchen. This Amazon Basics shelf transforms IKEA furniture into something magical, as if little elves built the IKEA piece for you because it was so simple. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS ASSEMBLYING IKEA FURNITURE! ****
br>Because it is so STUPIDLY designed, this stupid shelf took me an HOUR to assemble. First and foremost, whoever wrote the instructions should have made Step 3 the first step! That would have made things a lot easier, but I'll come back to that later. You never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever require the use of an Alan Wrench I guarantee that the majority of people will be building this on the floor (given that not everyone has a giant work table lying around, as I can only assume the Amazon designers did when designing this). So, unless you sit with the shelf in your lap and turn the Alan Wrench, the first steps are virtually impossible. br>br>Now put 1 in place of Step 3. If you see this, put those strange'screw dowel things' in first, or you won't be able to turn a screwdriver (see my one photo for how tight it is). This issue caused things to move much more slowly than they should have. Alternatively, use a small handle screwdriver, which will cause its own problems. br>br>The metal screw 'catch' things that you're used to seeing in IKEA furniture are also used in this shelf, but unlike IKEA, none of these want to go in. I had to force 90 of them in, and one just wouldn not go in (I tried several times), so who knows if my shelf will stay together. There was a lot of 'forcing' going on, and nothing seemed to fit right. Because it was so difficult to put this thing together on a 60-degree day, I was literally sweating. br>br>One would think that as the process progresses, it would become easier, but no, it only adds to the frustration. The shelves, which have no front or back indication (on the piece or in the instructions), will prevent you from screwing in the shelf supports because a hole will be missing if they are installed incorrectly (which you won't realize until the end). Even if the shelf is oriented correctly, the holes don't always line up in the same place. They stuck labeling stickers on the shelf pieces and couldn't even put them in places where they wouldn't be seen. Alternatively, you could use peel-off stickers. br>br>If you can find a similar shelf for less than $100 and is EASIER to assemble, I say go for it. I'm completely fed up with this shelf.

It was a fantastic deal. It takes a long time to put together. The package arrived in perfect condition and on time. There were no repercussions. - The pre-drilled holes are a little too small for the hardware that comes with the kit. Installing this bookshelf necessitates a significant amount of energy and effort. I went with a number three. During certain steps of the installation, I used a 6 V power screwdriver, which saved me a lot of time and effort.
- Even though we have a sturdy and strong bookshelf at the end of the installation, I believe the whole process could have been made a lot easier if the predrilled holes had been a little larger. This bookshelf can be used as a stand-alone unit or mounted on the wall. Both options come with all necessary hardware. This is why I chose to use it as a stand-alone assembly. Two blocks are provided for this purpose, which must be attached to the bookshelf's two rear legs. The bookshelf will not topple over as a result of this. However, keep in mind that if you use this option as a stand-alone, the bookshelf will protrude 3. To begin, I have nearly two decades of furniture assembly experience. I've designed and built my own furniture and assembled dozens of pieces from Amazon, IKEA, Ashley Home Furniture, Target/Walmart, and other retailers, but this is by far the worst shelving unit I've ever bought. br>br>2 stars because it's cute and it came on time and all that. That's all I'm going to say about it because putting it together is extremely difficult. The screws aren't quite right for the holes they're supposed to go in. It took a lot of elbow grease to get the screws in, which is understandable when you're using standard screws and don't have access to a motorized screwdriver, but it's a sign of low-quality workmanship. When the piece is supposed to be put together with an Allen wrench, it is of poor quality. As I screwed the sections together, I found that I needed to use my ratchet screwdriver to provide extra power. The holes appear to have been drilled incorrectly as well. Because the peg positions aren't correct, pieces that use pegs to stabilize connections wiggle even when the screw is inserted as far as it can go. br>br>The instructions are also pretty bad. Some of the steps did not appear to be in the correct order. The earlier steps make it difficult to reach areas in the later steps, and there's no reason why they couldn't have been completed earlier in the process. br>br>Although the piece is inexpensive, I'm not convinced it's worth the money. Choose a different option to save yourself time and frustration.

This ladder bookcase is well-built and simple to put together. It's a lot easier to put together than IKEA furniture. Last year, I bought one in a similar style and size, but it cost more, so this one is a good deal.
