Honestly. Despite the fact that the company was very pleasant to work with and almost eagerly sent me a new tube every time one blew out early, I eventually became tired of filing warranty claims. The tubes were never supposed to last more than a month. My water was running unsterilized each time I waited for a replacement, and the entire system required shock sterilization once more. That quickly becomes exhausting. The GENUINE brand-name tubes last twelve times longer than these tubes, and are thus worth (in one sense of the word) the much higher price. br>br>There is no real reason for any of these tubes (whether genuine or "compatible") to be so expensive; Because they're just regular fluorescent tubes with no phosphor on the inside of the glass envelope, they could be sold for under $10 each. Glass tubing, a pair of contacts, a tungsten wire, a small amount of UV halogen, and a dab of epoxy are all that's required.
