The following phrase makes no sense to me The number you want to use can be switched or PORTED. I'd like to say thank you. ?

For almost one year now I have been using Basic Talk and it has lived up to all of its promise. I was surprised by the result. The Old Local Company I was with repossessed my old phone number because they wouldn't allow me to keep it. I'm sorry but I cannot remember all the details, but I was unable to keep it. As a result, they had to use only their own exchange numbers, refusing to let their numbers be shared. As a result, I had to change my Putting my mind to rest, I forget what method I used for calculating my current number. The number I think I received from Basic Talk was just a random assignment. My old number I had for 40 years was no longer valid and I was forced to get a new one, so I really didn't care what it was since I couldn't keep it. As a WV resident, I talk all the time to my kids in Hawaii and New York for long periods of time, and my total monthly bill has only been around $11 dollars. With all the State and Federal Fees, it will cost you $1,00. Thanks for reading, and I hope I gave you some guidance.

What are the fax machine requirements for Basic Talk?

My HP Officejet 6700, an older model, worked for faxing. Currently, I have an OJ 4630 that does not allow faxing. There is no support for faxing in the terms and conditions given by BT.

How do you set it up? Do you need a computer?

An ideal solution to get mobile service when you don't have it
5/5

I love it! The solution to all of our problems was a no-brainer and added no financial strain! As we recently moved into our first house, we quickly realized that we don't have cell service. We can send texts if we sit near the window, but that is about as good as it gets for a As we explored our options, all were expensive. However, this was the least expensive. Although we considered getting a network extender, the $250+ price tag didn't make it The first time I came across this service while exploring our landline options, I went for it - and am SO glad I It's so easy to set up, you just plug it into the router, you plug it into your landline and it's all set! There is a voice on the other end! No matter where you order it from, if you choose BasicTalk's website or Amazon you will get the same price. In order to get the little box, you have to pay for the first month, as it's not included in the website price. It works out no different if you purchase it on Amazon, as you pay for the box, but get the first month free! Choosing Amazon for two-day shipping was the right decision for me. All of our phone calls are crystal clear, and we have never encountered any problems or complaints! Considering the price of around $11-$14, it's at least worth a try If you're losing just 12 a month due to taxes, you don't have much to lose.

In fact, it's your telephone company from which you can set up VoIP phone service through Basic Talk as a landline
4/5

You would buy such a box and then you could set up VoIP phone service through it. Your box is powered by the same way that the modem is, so it's safe to assume that even if you lose power or internet, you'll still be able to make phone calls. While monthly costs are low, they are still very reasonable. Having started three years ago at $13, it is now at $16. The unlimited calling plan includes calls throughout the country. Calls to other countries are not allowed. I made a joke out of that voicemail. The majority of the messages I receive are not even read to me, and for the last three months, I have completely missed messages left for me. The red light on my phone that used to blink when a message was left for me has not worked for three months. In any case, it's a great way to get a landline for a low price. Since I have no cell phone, and do not wish to add another large expense to my life, this is the best option It is a good piece of work I wish you the best of luck, though, if you have a problem. It's impossible to contact the customer service department by phone. You have to reach out to the company by email. In any case, it's satisfactory for my needs, as I said.

It is a great deal, a great product and a great service
5/5

Though I wish the cords were longer, I am sure I could switch to longer cords if I tried to place the phone somewhere else. I really like my Basic Talk device. I wish I had longer cords. I am so glad that Basic Talk has so far been great. Considering the price, this is a great deal. You will find that the customer service is decent and helpful (once you fully explain what is going on). As I use this solely for home alarm purposes, I don't have any issues with it. I bill ACH style, so no issues. My previous number couldn't be transferred from AT&T, who refused to transfer my old number. My phone rarely gets used for conversation, but when it does, it's excellent. I switched from ATT. Even if you don't use Basic Talk, the new number is still easy to remember. To begin - It was extremely easy to set up and install. In terms of keeping me informed about the number transfer and that services were operating effectively, Basic Talk did a wonderful job. The overall experience has been very good for me.

It is normally too expensive to work with traditional home alarm systems
4/5

Good sound quality, but will not work with most of them. It works for my mother in law that has used it for more than The BasicTalk bill went from $40ish to $13ish after the switch. There is something nice about the cheapness of the box. If you want to see how it works you can get it for $5 and get a month included in the price (although taxes are charged). There are only nine days remaining after that. I pay $13 per month in my area, plus taxes, so around $99 per month. In recent times, I have been looking into doing the same, but I was worried because I currently have an alarm system. As far as whether people could get their alarms to work, I had heard mixed reviews. My ability to do so was limited. (CID transmit format) I tried to use this guy with my GE Concord alarm system, but it didn't like him. When it comes to this guy, there's really not a lot you can do to tweak it. It either works for you or it doesn't. While researching, I found a lot of discussion forums where people were able to get their alarms to work with Ooma (by using Ooma's "Alarm Mode" in the control panel), so I decided to give Ooma a try. The GE Concord system works fine when I turn on Ooma's "Alarm Mode". When this is turned off, however, the system refuses to work at all. All of the problems appear to have to do with how alarm systems use DTMF codes to transmit data to the central station, and how different VOIP service providers translate those codes into voice on their In summary, I feel like Ooma will be a good fit for me. There is no way to tell until it is too late. I just wanted to let you know that turning on "Alarm Mode" on Ooma turns off call waiting (I don't like it anyway) but it also disables the ability to check voicemail from the phone. If you want to use the iPhone app, you have to use the Ooma web site or base station. It's a little bit of a bummer, but I'll probably be able to deal As a result, if your alarm system (that uses a phone line) is using a phone line, BasicTalk might not be the best solution. You might not need this feature, however, in which case it will probably work Since my mother in law's been using it for over a year, we haven't encountered any problems. BasicTalk has the nice feature of allowing you to port your number for free, in contrast to Ooma that charges $40. *By the way, when I called in to cancel BasicTalk (they have a number dedicated just to cancellations! challenged me on cancelling, but I persisted, and they did not succeed. It would be great if I did not have to deal with any strange BasicTalk charges.

I ordered this service in April of 2015 and it was set up the day I received it
5/5

It is a good inexpensive phone service. My previous telephone provider was switched to BasicTalk in a reasonable amount of time. * I have no complaints at this point, the sound quality during conversations is exactly the same as my previous telephone provider, as with my previous phone provider, the service will not work during power or In the event of a power outage, a generator can provide power. The product I received is excellent. I am very pleased with it. The VOIP service BasicTalk is ideal for people who want barebones and no frills. As a result, my phone bill each month is now much lower and I have an unchained calling plan. You may call the continental US or Canada without any limitations.
