The printer would no longer pick up paper and would display an error message. There is a little plastic tab on the top that should pull inward to make the device work As a replacement for the part pictured above, I found this online. The switch is easy to do. You remove the left side of the printer by pulling it off, then you remove a servo with just a A new part can be put in place once the old one is removed. A message that reads 'no paper' has been fixed in my MFC I wish I had known about this part before I ordered a new pickup roller kit, although it probably won't hurt over the long run when the new one arrives

It is a bit more complicated than just replacing the rollers, but you can do it with a screwdriver if you have one. The best way to get a good direction is to search Youtube for "No Paper Message in MFC - 7030,DCP - There are 7055 Brother printers' and this video describes how to set them up.
