I'm a construction estimator, and I've been using this product for a long time. I don't think I can complain because I use it almost every day. Nothing lasts indefinitely. br>I've just accepted that I'll have to replace it every year. br>I've contacted the manufacturer a couple of times to explain the issue I'm having with the tool. br>They've been helpful to a point by sending me extra wheels, but they don't seem to care about fixing the problem I'm having with it, because every one I've bought has worn out in the same way. I also bought ten of them. Over the years, I've collected 15 of them. br>When it works properly, I really like the product, but I believe it wears out much faster than it should. br>After a while, the wheel stops spinning properly, and I have to restart the process.
When compared to other options, this one is simple to use. Because of how much this can do, the instructions were a little difficult to follow. The wheel rotates smoothly and precisely. I'm not sure if it says so in the description, but it comes with a cool, well-fitting, reasonably tough case. I won't be using the neoprene case, so I'll be returning it. I don't think the neoprene case is necessary unless you plan to put it in a tool pouch.
We use it to bid jobs and then to double-check the original takeoff when ordering materials. It's smooth, and unlike some of the others we've used in the past, it doesn't skip if you move too quickly; it's perfect, thank you!.
The Scale Master Pro is comfortable to hold. br>My only criticism is that it does not light up as shown in the images. br>I believe that is deceptive marketing. br>Unfortunately, I'm too busy to do so, and I'm in desperate need of it. Alternatively, I'd send it back to you.
And here we are in 2013! I bought it because I get a lot of drawings that aren't scaled correctly. Customers would fax documents, which would then be resized for e-mail. Drawings can be mailed or copied to a smaller size. br>br>Programming the custom scales (3 options) is as easy as rolling the Scale Master over two points of known dimensions, such as a 3' doorway or an 8' ceiling, entering the value, and locking it in. You can now accurately scale out anything on the drawing. If you need to reprogramme it for a different page or drawing, you can either use one of the other two custom scales or reprogramme the one you're currently using in a matter of seconds. br>br>It's also useful when using the pre-made templates. When your eyes are too tired to read the small markings on a traditional drafting scale, set scales (1/8, 1/4, 3/16, etc. ). In my own business, I will not be without it. br>br>It's now June 2013, and I've already replaced the battery. This tool has never caused me any problems! This "disposable" era is pretty cool!.
The scale did not turn on on the second use. It was purchased new and has sat in a drawer with VERY LITTLE use. When I tried to use it for the second time for work, it refused to turn on. I took time off work to go out and buy new batteries, but they were still not working. The product is clearly defective, and the company will not accept returns due to the fact that it was purchased three months ago. Now I'm dealing with a brand-new item's factory warranty.
Our son received a gift to use at work, which he assumed he would never use. He was ecstatic after trying it and said he used it all the time after that.
These are incredibly useful tools. A regular scale will suffice, but these will expedite the process and, when used correctly, will be extremely accurate.
