Questions & Answers

My scale was not working properly. What is the procedure for filing a warranty claim?

The box is still in my possession - A warranty card is included, which should have come with your scale. According to my copy, the warranty is for ten years and covers scales that are found to be defective in material or workmanship. The number to call is 1-. 888- 919- 6888 Before you return it, you must call that number and obtain an "RMA number." To give you a heads up, the fine print on the warranty card reads as follows: The customer is responsible for shipping the scale to Accuteck (along with any recommended insurance), but they will cover the cost of replacement shipping. To avoid further damage during shipping, the scale should be packed. If you don't have the cardboard foam inserts that came with the platform when you first opened it, I recommend making something to go underneath it before packing it. After they give you the RMA number and you pack the scale, include a copy of your Amazon receipt and a note with your RMA number (Accutek doesn't mention this, but I think it's a good idea to do it anyway). along with your name, address, and phone number, as well as a brief description of the problem you're having.

Is there going to be a steady weight gain? For instance, if an empty bucket was placed on top of it and grain was slowly poured into it. ?

Yes, the weights will be added and subtracted on a continuous basis.

Is there a way to connect the weight of an object to a computer using USB?

Yes, you can weigh (say, a computer) while the computer runs the scale. Connect to a USB port and tare the weight to 0 grams. 00, and then place the object on top of it. (Slight inaccuracy may be an issue due to the cord's weight, but this is a negligible amount.)

Is it possible to zero a scale that has already been loaded with weight?

YES, THE SCALE CAN BE ZEROED OUT WHILE WEIGHT IS ON IT.

A cost-effective, functional quality scale that's a must-have for anyone who sells or ships products! Update for January 2020: The scale continues to function as well as it did when I purchased it in 2018! There are no issues to report
5/5

br>br>About a year ago, I decided to try my hand at selling things on eBay because I wanted to sell more than what Amazon could handle and have the flexibility of not having to find an exact, pre-existing listing to put it under, as well as not having to charge a flat rate and risk losing money if my item exceeded that amount due to weight (which many of my textbooks did). br>br>At first, I got away with using my parents' old, clunky digital scale (which probably weighs 50 pounds but only holds 20 pounds) because I was only listing a few small items. Of course, it was inconvenient to use, but it was an improvement over nothing. br>br>However, a member of my family asked me to assist them in the sale of a horse saddle. br>br>Now, this presented a unique shipping challenge because not only was the saddle too oddly shaped and large and bulky to accurately weigh on a scale, but my parents' scale didn't have a high enough weight capacity, and the digital reader screen would have been completely obscured by the box being balanced on the weighing area, so I wouldn't have been able to get an accurate weight. So, not wanting to spend money on a scale if I didn't have to, I tried to weigh it on a bathroom scale, but this proved futile because the data output screen was once again obscured by the box sitting on it. I even had a family member hold the saddle (in the box and out of it) and stand on the scale and let me measure the difference in weight, but this was not an extremely accurate figure. I kept getting a range of possible weights, and shipping rates are affected by each ounce and pound of weight. br>br>So, with a sigh, I went to Amazon in search of a digital scale to use for these purposes. It would solve my problem with the horse saddle and make weighing my other belongings a lot easier. Shipping scales come in a surprising number of varieties. The online retail market has opened up a lot of doors for small businesses, artists, and individuals looking to make money off of things they don't need or want, so I started looking through the features and options to see what I liked. The following were the factors that drew me to this scale: br>The price! This model costs $24 at the time of writing this review. 99, and I paid $1 less for mine a few months ago; compared to other models, it had a few more perks for not a lot more money, so the price seemed reasonable for what I was getting. When I told my family I was getting a scale, they said it would cost $75 or more, so it's great to know that modern technology has made scales much more versatile and affordable. br>It can support the following weights: It's no laughing matter that you weigh 110 pounds! Other scales may be a few dollars less expensive, but they can only handle a fraction of the weight. I don't intend to weigh a lot of heavy items, but knowing the scale has a wide range of weights it can safely handle is comforting, especially if I need to weigh something that's on the heavier side unexpectedly. br>The fact that it's so small and light while still being able to handle that much weight. The scale measures about 10x8x3 inches and weighs only a few pounds. It's easy to lift with one hand, which is a huge improvement over my parents' scale, which was an absolute LUG of a machine on top of having a pitiful weight capacity. This thing is so light and small that it's super easy to store and get out to use. I don't need to devote an entire room to it. It has built-in plastic flaps to keep the items you're weighing contained and propped up. While this may not appear to be a significant benefit, if you've ever tried to accurately weigh something that can't stand up on its own or is likely to roll off, you know how difficult it can be to do so. I like how I can easily weigh something that needs to be propped up without having to change the measurement. It's battery and AC adapter powered, so it has the convenience of not requiring a plug but also having the option of using external power if you don't have batteries or simply want to. If there isn't an outlet nearby, the cord from the wall outlet can be plugged into a computer's USB port to provide power. br>I like how the scale weighs items in pounds and ounces, because that's how shipping companies do it. I've seen scales that don't have this feature, which I think is ridiculous. Manually changing the weight isn't a big deal, but if you're weighing and listing multiple items for sale, it's easy to make a mistake and lose money. br>The display is bright and easy to read, and switching between options is simple. On/off, zero, hold the number, and change the weight units are all buttons that can be pressed. br>The display is attached to a long, stretchy cord that can be held away from the scale, making the information much more accessible and allowing the scale to handle objects that are larger than the scale's small boundaries. After noticing the problem with the bathroom scale and its built-in, flush-able toilet paper dispenser, with- the- I knew I needed a scale with a display that was separate from the scale itself, so I went out and bought one. br>A 10-year warranty is included with the scale. I'm not sure how easy it is to use or if the company makes it difficult, but it's nice to see that included in a product, especially since a scale is one of those objects that needs to work perfectly and be handled with care, or it will suffer damage and stop working or give incorrect information. br>br>Now for the cons:br>The AC adapter must be plugged into the display. I find it awkward to connect things like this because having the AC adapter plugged into the display limits the display's ability to move and be handled freely. It doesn't completely eliminate it, but it does make things more difficult. br>The AC adapter isn't very long, and since it's a USB with the small round plug, I don't think finding a longer replacement will be easy. The cord is approximately 3 feet long and comes with the package. It's not a deal breaker for me, but if you want to use the AC adapter and your outlet is 6 feet away from where you want to use the scale, this is a problem. /br>Once the cover is removed, the batteries may pop out because they are nestled in such a way that two per slot must be pushed together and held in place by tension. It's not a big deal, but it can take a few seconds to get them in and then put on the cover before they pop out, and when you remove the cover, the batteries can pop out unexpectedly, so be careful where you open the cover, lest two batteries pop out onto the floor and roll away. Because of the small size, there is a disadvantage: you must exert extra effort to balance packages/items that overhang the edges by a significant amount, and it works best if what you're weighing is either compact, solid, or contained in a box. If the scale were, say, 12x12, it would probably be easier to place things on it without thinking, but because it's so small, it can take some maneuvering to balance things on top so the edges don't touch the scale's surface and change the measurement. Because it is a measuring tool, it is a little difficult to store. You don't want to put anything on top of it or accidentally push down too hard on one edge, as this will damage the scale and cause it to fail to take accurate measurements. I've decided to leave it alone on a shelf, but given how small and flat it is, I'm tempted to stack things on top of it. I wish it came with a case or had an extra piece to lock around it in the space between the top and bottom portions to prevent the sensors from being pressed on, even if something is on top of it. Overall, this scale is well-suited to your requirements if you: Have a variety of items to weigh; You generally need a tiny, light scale that comes over/inclement over the top of the 10x8 scale. You need something slightly heavier as well (like a large box?). It can handle general use fine, especially if the items are neatly laid out or don't weigh much, but if you toss multiple heavy packages on it every day without thinking about it, it won't last long. br>Want a scale with a higher capacity than 20 or 50 lbs, but don't want to spend an extra $10 or $20 on one with a capacity of 400 lbsbr>br>Overall, this was a great purchase! I've had no problems with it in the few months that I've been using it. We'll see how well it holds up over time, but for now, I'm overjoyed! It's made dealing with the listing and shipping aspects of eBay a lot easier for me, and I've been able to do a lot more with my store as a result. I'll never have to deal with my parents' monstrosity of a scale again, and I'm grateful for that!.

The Accuteck scale's manufacturer's product support team was unable to assist us in determining why it was not working
3/5

This scale was purchased to help us weigh packages that we send via UPS. We usually ship boxes that are 6 x 6 x 6 to 24 x 24 x 24 inches in size and weigh between 2 and 4 pounds. 10 lbs. We appeared to be in need of a scale like this one. There appeared to be no damage to the packaging or the unit. We tried to test the scale by weighing several items on this Accuteck scale and another scale after following the user's manual to set it up; all of the weights on the Accuteck scale resulted in 0 lb. 0 oz. (as shown in the attached image), whereas the other scale produced the expected results. br>br>We tried calling the manufacturer's product support number, which was listed in the user's manual, but it didn't work. The product will be returned to us.

I'm returning it after only 10 minutes out of the box
3/5

I was optimistic because of the positive feedback. I made a cross with my fingers. I took a deep breath and held it. And I'm returning it after only 10 minutes out of the box. br>br>I plugged in the batteries and got everything set up, then placed the scale on my packing table's flat, smooth, hard surface and turned it on. The countdown began right away on the display. I hoped it would calm down, but it continued to oscillate even after a few minutes. br>br>I tried moving the cable around a bit, and it seemed to exacerbate the problem; I'm guessing the cause is (minor) battery power fluctuations and/or near/far end "cross talk" in the RJ11 terminated cable between the display and the scale itself. br>br>For a laugh, I disconnected the display (while it was still on) and jiggled it around to see if the numbers changed. They did. THEY WOULDN'T STAY AT 0 EVEN WITHOUT INPUT FROM THE SCALE! Save yourself the trouble. br>br> br>br>Having owned several scales (including a few with sensitivity of 1/100 of a gram for "qty by weight" counts on light items), this is a huge letdown. For your viewing (dis)pleasure, I've included a video.

After 45 days of use, the unit failed
3/5

This scale appealed to me at first. was extremely precise and provided exactly what I required. There was never a problem with the scales at the post office. When the meter was not loaded, it started to float a little and wouldn't stay at zero. I attempted to calibrate, but the problem only worsened. 5 minutes ago, I reset the scale to zero, and it now reads 1 pound. 9 oz. and is on the rise. It's no longer possible to trust them, and it's a waste of money. I'm going to try a different brand and see what happens.

It didn't work at all right away!! I followed the directions and plugged everything in
3/5

When I turn on the power, all I get is "Err" followed by the power turning off. If "Err" appears, the sensor is faulty, according to the directions, and the manufacturer should be contacted. There is a ten-year manufacturer warranty, and I can send this brand-new faulty device to them to be refurbished or replaced, but I only paid $23 for it, and sending it to them would cost me about $12. I don't see why I should be responsible for the shipping costs if the manufacturer produced a product that doesn't work right away. Because I bought it on Amazon, I'll simply return it to them and they'll cover the shipping costs. br>br>It's also worth noting that the item is extremely light and has a small base. It's made of a low-cost plastic. I can't imagine putting a 110-pound package on there and having it stay stable, let alone the scale holding up.
