Since I last used a Victor 1260-I was using a Sharp, Texas Instruments, and a Texas Instruments There have been three in the past 35 years and all three were commercial buildings. This period of time is associated with the 1260s I found the 3 calculator to be quite useful until I tore the paper off, and it jammed when I advanced it the next time. There are other people who have encountered the same problem. My favorite calculator for 10 keying numbers has finally arrived. It is more expensive, bigger, and the keys echoe a bit louder, but it is my preferred calculator for 10 keying The TI 21X is not at all huge physicaly as were some TIs in my past. I remember working with Victors in school back in the late 1970s, and they were great at the time. It looks like Victors aren't sold at office supply stores, so I thought they went out of business or were bought out by another company until I discovered Calculators like this one are the best. It also has an actual power switch on the side, unlike many that require you to slide the slider below the display to turn it on or off. Bright and spacious, the display is a good size and a good size. A key layout that works for me is good. 12/12/17 - However, lately the number 2 key has been sticking. Originally rated 5, it now gets a 3. There has been no spill on this unit, so I do not know why it may be malfunctioning. In an hour or so, the key will work better if I remove the key and allow a little isopropyl alcohol to look into the plastic plunger. I tried a little silicone lubricant, but it didn't work. The drawing board is back in action.
Having owned Victor calculators for about 35 years, I know how reliable they are. There is a number that sticks on the one that replaces the 1560A, which is about 20 years old. Since I am a CPA, I primarily use my machine for adding. The only issue I have is that I find that the "touch" is "heavy" compared with my previous machine. I mean, I feel like I must press down on the keys harder to enter the numbers. The machine is slower because of this. As well, when you press the "Total" button the paper doesn't advance so that you can see the total above the tear. There is no way to tear off the paper off line. You must advance it with another key in order to do that. There's also a reel to reel ribbon on this machine, as opposed to the ribbon on my old machine. This is not something I am sure I will keep. Monroe machines are believed to be of very high quality.
I am very pleased with the calculator. It would be nice to purchase again in the future.
You can use the calculator just fine until you put in the paper tape. I found that there was a paper jam under the metal plate that had crumpled up paper under it, preventing the new paper from sliding in easily.
This is a highly recommended book.
Thank you for the purchase. I'm very pleased with it. I have bought cheaper calculators in the past. Spending the extra money was well worth it.
There is something about the Victor that I love. This machine has been my favorite since I began researching machines. I've tried others and always come back to it.
I am a huge fan of Victor! My favorite calculator on the market!.
