Questions & Answers
The largest of the three measures 12" long x 3" wide. 5 inches wide at the widest point, and I have the others here, but I believe they are about 3" wide x 5" long.
I didn't use it for quilting; instead, I used it to create a leather design. They're made of a high-quality flexible plastic that's about 3/32" thick. I hope this has been of assistance.

Selected User Reviews For Staedtler Mars 571 Set of 3 Shapes of French Curves, 57140WP
They work and feel great, just like the rest of Staedtler's products. However, don't drop them on a very flat floor. Mine landed with the bevel side up, and I couldn't pick it up. These have perfectly flat backs, and the bevel made picking them up impossible - I got a razor knife and was able to get a grip by slipping it under one of the edges and lifting it enough to get a grip. At the same time, I was irritated, amused, and impressed by the quality.
These are an excellent addition to my sewing room. They are not at all flimsy, but rather thick and have nice bevelled edges that prevent ink from smudging the paper when used with a marker pen. I only wish they'd used the metric system to grade them. As one would expect from Staedtler, the quality is excellent.
The edges are nice and smooth. The holes in the center allow you to trace more shapes, and they're also easy to hang on a nail. These are actually more comfortable to use than my metal hip curve, because the sound of a pencil being dragged across the metal edge hurts my teeth, whereas these don't. They have a lovely, slick feel to them - It is extremely simple to operate.
They're not as thick as they ought to be. When you buy something like this, you expect it to last a long time; however, these are thinner and brittle, so I'm not sure how long they'll last. So, 3 stars for durability, 5 stars for ease of use = 4 starsbr>br>I should have gone with the metal set instead. br>br>I'll keep you updated as things progress.
br>One drawback is that they are almost entirely one-sided. If you turn them over, there's a recessed ledge that makes it more difficult for your drawing tool to ride against. br>Don't drop it, either. Mine cracked when I dropped it from waist level onto the garage floor.
These are what I use to sew with. Necklines, armholes, and other details are being worked on. Excellent equipment. It would have been a far superior product for me if it didn't have the edge. However, it performs its function admirably.
They're sturdy, easy to clean, and have a "lip" around the edges that helps you keep your pen/marker/pencil right where you need it without skipping and jumping over the device.
Every artist's and designer's toolkit should include this. This set will come in handy when you need precise, clean, non-straight lines.
