The clamps, on the other hand, are a different story. The panels themselves are fantastic. I assumed they'd be foam core with felt fabric on top, but they're made entirely of compressed felt fabric. You might be able to break these, but I doubt it. They're a little flimsy, but they're pretty rigid, and I really like them! However, br>br> clamping devices You're in good shape if your desk is less than one inch thick. Purchase with confidence and take pleasure in the experience. The clams, however, are only good up to 1 inch, as stated in the description. I'll never understand why their brilliant engineers believed this product would never be needed on a desk any thicker. br>br>However, if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place In these bleak days of homeschooling, I was determined to use them on the IKEA desks I had purchased for my children, which were 1. 2" in diameter. The included clamps were obviously useless, so I went to a local hardware store and purchased some black L brackets (from Amazon), 1 inch wood screws, and 1/2 inch long aluminum binding posts (aka Chicago screws), and voila! They've been firmly installed and are ready to use! Actually, I prefer this because the clamps would create a gap between the panel and the desk, allowing items to fall through. br>br>Really, guys- re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re- Consider the cinching. 1 inch- really?.
We bought two of these panels for our home office to reduce background noise when both of us are on the phone for work. These made no difference in terms of sound deadening or reducing background noise from my coworker. These will not work if you are closer together or in a smaller office space because we are about 8' away from each other in a large office. These should either be improved or priced at $20 because they don't work and aren't worth the money.
I have my own personal space! I had to relocate my work area to the kitchenette so that I could keep an eye on the child who is far away. I was trying to learn, but having my desk open to everyone walking back and forth was driving me insane. So I bought this one, and it gives me the privacy I need to work with the help of additional brackets because my desk is only about 1" thick.
Definitely a good buy, but it's way too expensive. There are standalone options that do the same job for less than half the price.
It's very simple to put together and looks great. For the office, I'll buy more as needed.
It is simple to erect. Not in the least bit sturdy. It doesn't stop any sound from coming through! I bought it for my home office, and now I'm wishing I hadn't squandered the money.
