Hi Janet! br>I've used soft pastels with these tools, as well as stick pastels and acrylic painting on the same piece. All of them complement each other beautifully! Soft pastels and stick pastels mix perfectly, so you can easily switch from one to the other. I hope this helps! It works well, but it doesn't last long. I was surprised at how quickly they began to degrade and pill. I bought disposable eye makeup applicators with dual (different) tip ends on Amazon, and they're made of the same foam material. The best hack ever, but it's only useful in small, cramped spaces. I've also used Joann's "headliner" foam, which I had on hand and cut to fit tools. My Scotch tape glider applicator was used to attach the pieces. As if by magic, I hope this information is useful to someone.
I've collected quite a few of these over the years because they're pretty much the only tools of their kind on the market. They quickly begin to fall apart, and cleaning them with soap and water is ineffective. They're a little too expensive for what they are.
Soft pastels blend beautifully with these sponges. I prefer them to hand-held sponges because they appear to absorb chalk better. Dish soap and water are all that's needed to clean them up. The sponges do wear out, but I just paid $13 for 40 of them, so it's not a problem for me.
These were difficult to use and tore easily. The foam pad is difficult to get on and off the applicator, making it easier and less expensive to use an eye shadow applicator.
If you're working with panpastels, these are a must-have for blending perfection. There is nothing comparable on the market. It's because you're having so much fun with them that they're worn out. It's a never-ending process to replace them, but they clean up nicely. and replacements are cheap.
My covers get so beat up, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong(?). ) I'm going to get another one as soon as possible.
Put these on a subscription so you never run out. They make excellent sponge covers for your art supplies. They're what I use on my professional pastel drawings, and they're great.
