They're made of a tough plastic that's been raised. They couldn't be used in a pasta machine, but they could be imprinted with clay. However, I'm not sure if you'd need to use a release agent.

They're a flexible plastic that I used with my students to make patterns by laying paper over it and rubbing crayons across it.
These are thin plastic plates that are used to lift wet paint from a gel press when creating collage or scrapbooking paper. I'm not sure how crayons would work in this situation. These aren't stencils by any stretch of the imagination. I sincerely hope this is the case.

In gelli printing, they create amazing patterns! Love it!.
made rubbing plates out of plastic- This is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with the procedure. I'm new to Shiva Paintstiks, and while I know they can be used with a wide range of materials to create designs on fabric, canvas, wood, and other surfaces, I found these to be a great way to get started with fabric. The patterns created by the designs are all unique, and they can be layered to create even more unique effects. Household items such as doilies and dishmats can be useful once you've gotten the hang of it, but this is a great place to start.
These thin, flimsy plastic tiles are ideal for doing paint rubbings.
The pattern on these rubbing plates has been colored in the photo so that we can see it. The plate patterns are deep set for prints and are identical to the photos.

It makes a great impression on my Gelli plates that I use.
Making fabric decorations for quilt squares is a fun project.
I'm looking forward to putting these to good use.
