Questions & Answers

Is a polyester fabric stiff like a board as a result of this? When and how long should it be left ?

You must use a certain amount of stiffener to get the desired result. Despite living in Florida, where it is humid, it is hard to keep things stiff, but this works nicely.

Is this stiffener applied directly to the skin? In this case, what is the difference between the spray and this one? It comes with a spray, so how do I attach ?

Applying it required the use of a brush. Despite my interest in using the spray, I have yet to try it. Stiffener made from school glue is the consistency of fabric stiffener.

Can I set these outside in the rain if I plan to use them as cheese cloth ghosts?

I don't think the stiffness would last. The rain would wash it away.

Can the fabric be treated with a stiffening agent after it has been washed?

Unlike stiffeners, they can be washed away.

It very well could have hardened overnight
5/5

Using this stiffener will allow me to make crochet projects more sturdy. Initially, I didn't realize how much was needed, so I mixed the stiffener with water to soften it, and then applied 2 fl oz of 2-part epoxy to the stiffened spot A three-coat process is required. I thought the material would not stiffen up at first, but almost overnight it turned into a solid structure. With one coat of stiffener without adding water, I let it dry overnight, and then applied one coat directly onto the vinyl. It worked well. White when applied, but dries clear when dried. I tried to wash off one of the crochet projects after trying them for awhile, but the fabric was too stiff. Despite the stiff result, everything remained the same. Some softening did occur, but not all of the dirt was washed off. The shape is still strong enough that the softened part of it is not too sensitive. Thanks for taking the time to read through this review.

It does what I need it to do. Buying more is next on my list! The wreath I made for my front door is pictured (see below).

Neither leaves a clear finish nor dries quickly
3/5

It does cause the item to become stiff when using this product. Nonetheless, the color of the finished product is affected by this process. My main material for the project was white cotton cloth line material that dried to a medium The color I wanted was not the one I That wasn't even consistent with the rest of the chapter. The situation is not good. Perhaps Elmer's glue can be tried next time. Initially, I had diluted the original solution with water.

am greatly pleased with this product and plan to continue using it
5/5

Since I crochet a lot of thread projects, I find this to be a great product! I use it for shaping and molding It took me a few tries to get this product to hold my 9" 3D angel upright and in form. I have made many crochet thread projects in different shapes, tried out many of the recipes found online, and this product was the only one that held her upright and in place. The fabric stiffener from Aleens's is what I use on doilies The recommendation is highly recommended.

It is absolutely the best product I've ever used
5/5

My crocheted ornaments are stiffened with this product and the results are great! However, they aren't stable enough to hold the jewels I would like to hang from my ornaments. I have tried other stiffeners, but none of them are stable enough. Also, it is easy to clean with warm water and soap. A healthy sprinkling of glitter adheres well when sprinkled on while still wet, and I can easily add color by adding a little acrylic paint. As I don't live in a humid climate, I can't comment on that, but since it can be washed out (trash washable items in your machine on delicate cycle) I assume a little sagging might occur when the humidity levels are high. If desired, the project would likely be made more permanent by spraying lacquer over the finished product. .

I love this product but couldn't find it in the fabric stores in my town, so I was excited to find.

A good pirate hat shape was achieved when the felt hat was allowed to stiffen
5/5

After mixing it with water, I poured it into a bowl Then I would put it over a felt hat and massage A 1/3 cup of water mixed with about the same amount of felt worked well to stiffen the felt into a Pirate Hat form. As you get to the end, it becomes rough/hard, so the texture can be an odd one. Having the fabric on a mold or pinned when drying is a good idea, as it slowly stiffens as it dries.

I absolutely love this stuff! There is no doubt that it The way it is going is almost TOO good! To stiffen up an old and used professional tutu, I was searching for something that would hold its shape
5/5

This tutu had already been used for sprays, hoops, etc. I was trying to find another use for it and took a chance with this. As long as it can be washed out, this is fine (in case it's necessary). My skin was transformed after I diluted it 50/50 and applied it. I let it dry for almost 24 hours. It was incredible! Despite being flat and stiff, it is not a smooth surface. I was looking for some lift and shape in the netting, which it did, but it made it quite scratchy. To repeat the process, I would dilute it more and apply several coats, depending on the I am in love with this stuff!.

I really like it
5/5

We bought this as a gift for the wife so that she could crochet If you are going to pin or drape the item, be sure and use enough stiffener to prevent it from tearing easily.
