As others have mentioned, this is the cheapest rack filler blank plate I've seen, and at $33 for ten, it's a steal! br>I haven't had much experience with various rack accessory manufacturers/parts, but these appear to be quite good even at a'standard' price; they are quite sturdy/solid pieces of steel with a lip folded inwards (or outwards if mounted in reverse, I suppose). They have a nice matte powder coat/finish and come with the necessary hardware - I've seen others charging extra for a single lip. Cage nuts are, well, cage nuts (every one I've seen has been the same). The screws are quite nice, and they come with a thick metal spacer and a plastic washer. Another reviewer mentioned that the hardware is quite shiny, with a fully machined finish, which he didn't think went well with the matte plates, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a completely uniform look (though this is noted via a photo of the bare screws themselves in the description). br>br>The problem, which has a 5-figure price tag, is a 5-figure issue. The reason for the one-star rating is that V7 appears to have frequent problems with their logistics processing and quality assurance. I ordered two sets, totaling 20 1U blanks, and 11 of the filler plates came with mounting hardware. After reading reviews for other V7 products (I was also looking for a rack mount shelf), I noticed that there was a pattern of people either missing hardware (I even saw one where the guy got extras) or complaining about the quality of the product. another case in which the customer believed the item was sold without half of the hardware and that it had to be purchased separately I did so because those parts were sold separately) and I noticed a lot of reviews complaining about bent mounting ears (at least one of my filler blanks has a medium depth scuff on it, but I haven't inspected all of them due to missing hardware). br>br>However, if you read the reviews and keep this in mind, it shouldn't be a major issue. I anticipated having to contact Amazon and wait for additional hardware, so I prepared ahead of time and am not too stressed. To summarize: br>br> I would strongly recommend it and would purchase it again unless a cheaper alternative becomes available or my needs change. It's just inconvenient to have to call Amazon, wait for them to contact the seller, and then wait for them to ship the rest of the hardware out (I'm assuming that's what will happen; I've contacted Amazon to start the process, but the vendor is closed for the 4th). Because I've already installed 9 of them, having to do a complete item swap will be a lot more inconvenient).
These fit perfectly in a standard 19" rack, but they aren't quite black. A photo of one of these next to a black drawer from another manufacturer is attached; these are gray in comparison. I'm not sure if I was sent the wrong item or not, but the other blank 1U panels I have from companies like Middle Atlantic and Gator match the black of the drawer, so I'm not sure if I was sent the wrong item or not. They fit well and are not flimsy in any other way.
While this is unquestionably the best deal in town, I wish there was an option without the plate's lips because they prevent a completely snug fit and optimal airflow, which is exactly what I was looking for. It's possible to get it snug, but not if your gear has any kind of rack shelf or support, as it'll just be enough to cram too much into these. br>br>However, if you're looking for something quick, cheap, and dirty, this is the place to be.
They are much thicker than I expected, though not as thick as a punched blank, which they don't need to be. I was expecting them to be paper thin, but they're not. br>br>These blanks for standard 19" racks come highly recommended. The price/quality ratio is fantastic. For the price of two from others, you can get ten for the price of two from us. Unlike some other reviews, I received a full set of cage nuts and bolts for each of the ten blanks. br>Each blank has a lip on the top and bottom and fits snugly in the slot. br>Thick metal is nice - excellent quality.
Because the batch I received was slightly larger than 1U, I had to put the screws in at an angle on the third blank. For not adhering to the standard, you get a one-star rating.
The rack plate blank was made from a gauge of steel that was neither too thick nor too thin. The rack clips were not shown in the picture, but they were exactly what I needed. I apologize for taking the blanks out of the package in the photos, but I was in a hurry. excessively ecstatic Oh, and the packaging was excellent; there was no need to be concerned about delivery.
They are a dark grey color, not black. They do, however, come with m6 cage nuts, which are silver in color. Even dark grey isn't enough. br>They would get five stars if they said they were dark grey and silver m6 cage nuts.
