Questions & Answers

What is the difference between a doctor and a dentist I have a dr. 40 and a dr. 41 How many times?

It is a simple question with a lot of answers. One of the most significant changes to Tascam's DRC technology This is 40 times more than the Tascam DR40 A common feature of 40x is that it has An audio interface can also be used with the 40x. It's that simple.

Do you know if this recorder works with wireless microphones?

Tascam Dr-40x has two Line-In jacks at the bottom for connection of a wireless microphone set. Simply connect the receiver via the jack at the bottom of your microphone set for use. Dr. Tascam can be found here This means that the receiver can send the feed to 40x for recording.

What are the options for wi-fi, bluetooth, usb, internal storage, four-track, ?

An internal storage unit is not present. Insert an SD card if you wish to use it. The device has a micro USB port that I have never used. It does not have Bluetooth or WiFi connectivity, and I hope they won't be built in soon. When recording in stereo it has a very rich stereo sound. Another thing I appreciate about this little guy is that it can record as many tracks as my SD card can hold in crisp, clear recordings. I do not know what you mean by 4 track, but it delivers just the right amount of punch.

How easy is it to set levels on both inputs, and if you're able to record simultaneously with the onboard mics and analogue inputs, how does that sound?

let me start by saying that the word "easily" is relative with this device. Personally, I come from the old school of "four track" It's easy to me when it's like that. On this device, the learning curve is steep. But do you have the time to learn it? In a word, yes. It does take some time and patience to get used to this device. *br> *br>When you say "both inputs", do you mean the microphones too? They are simply left and right in stereo recordings. In other words, I won't classify them separately, nor have I found a reason to edit them separately. I believe the answer is no, you can't edit on the device itself. But you can import it to a computer and edit there to your heart's *br>Yes, you can record simultaneously with inputs. However, I have not attempted it because I have found that the multidirectional mics onboard are more than capable of capturing almost any sound that you need from such a device.

This is a fantastic recorder, but you should be aware of it
4/5

You need to be aware of one thing when using this product. It seemed at first that the unit was draining the batteries when it was The light would blink off every time I turned it on. My battery was getting low, so I changed it several times. It turns out I hadn't held the "on" button down for As soon as the graphics started appearing on the screen, I let go of the button. There seems to be no solution to the problem. When a sound file is displayed, you have to hold it down. There's nothing major about it, but it needs to be brought to your attention.

It is not possible to power Lithium batteries After the battery is completely discharged, the device will not turn on A $40 repair fee is required
3/5

I would recommend this product if you are interested in recording audio. To record items in noisy party environments, I utilized it a great deal. The product is also great for capturing audio outside from individuals speaking. There are a lot of features and positives to the product. I've been enjoying using it, but after less than one year I was unable to turn it When I sent it in for repair, I was told that shipping was fee as well as $40 for repair. I thought it should be covered by warranty. In order to get it working again, it was necessary to flash the firmware. As well as expressing disappointment that I can't use lithium batteries for this, I am also upset. Battery replacement would not be possible. In all other devices I use lithium, it has worked fine.

This device just reported a failure Despite my best efforts, I cannot get it up and running. In addition to the troubleshoot steps outlined, I have also followed the steps below. Only option is to send the device in for firmware update, all the while paying $60 to $100 You will also need to pay $80. 00 for shipping and repairs. There is a problem with this product's power management and a loss of firmware (Software) for the device. I recommend looking for another model to meet your needs. We spend a lot of money on an item that has no water damage or physical damage in less than six months of use, yet it is defective.

It is a newer version of the same item, but it is not substantial improved, and it does not come with a USB cable
3/5

DR-64 was the old version of this program that I had Since 2011, we have accumulated 40, meaning we've been doing it for over 9 The company is still going strong, in fact. I see that the new version of it allows you to use it as a USB microphone as well as an audio Despite my dislike for the old version, I am willing to buy a copy of the new version. Except for the slight usb upgrade, there hasn't been anything else changed except a few cosmetic changes (black instead of silver protectors for the mics, and the microphones themselves look a bit different) but other than that, nothing else seems to have changed. It was the fact I felt the original was so great that caused me to remove 2 stars, even though I enjoyed the original very much One of the main selling points of this device is that it's a USB audio interface, yet it does not include a USB cable. The original unit I purchased did come with a USB cable, but the connector on the new unit is different, so it is impossible to use the original cable with the new one. Is it really necessary not to include a USB cable in a new version, when you did include one in the previous I don't understand what you are saying. In truth, I'm half tempted to just send it back and give it an inexpensive USB audio interface and connect my old DR-303 to that To it, you must add 40. The cables are messier, and the effect is similar, but it costs less.

This does not impress me much
3/5

This is a very challenging application. In order to access the menus, it is necessary to press very hard on the buttons. It's extremely difficult to use this device, the buttons are unresponsive, and I spent hours trying to figure out how to do the simplest things, like listening Despite numerous attempts, I never was able to make it recognise an external microphone. I had to remove the battery in order to shut off the unit. This is a really bad product, and I would not recommend it, even more so because of the horrible user Aside from being cheaply made, it's also very low quality.

Overdub recordings using multiple tracks are a breeze with this
5/5

The use of this is like a four-track old school overdub Although I had trouble getting the hang of it at first, I have managed to do so The recorder I have is really good and I really like it.

The following can be used for speeches and It was recommended to me by a colleague
4/5

My video production company uses this tool to record interviews for its radio station, as well as for my needs in conducting interviews. Thanks to the XLR/TRS ports available, I am able to tap into an audio system directly, which makes it ideal when I am hired to capture I have heard that TASCAM is one of the top brands for quality audio equipment in the radio industry. Today, the weakest link in my production process is video, not audio as it used to be. Two built-in directional microphones with adjustable sensitivity are built into this device, as well as automatic limiting, a full-size SD card slot, and a full-size SD card slot. Audio quality will be much better than the built-in camera on your computer. The only negative point in this review is the fact that the device froze when I was trying to preview an audio file on it. I lose one star for this because the device froze while seeking to a specific point in an audio file. The app did not open properly when I tried to preview audio I captured on behalf of a client, but it is overall a very nice device. I purchased a used model, and the savings were well worth it. There were no scratches to be found. While I am not sure whether this is capable of charging AA batteries, I have survived without any problems. So far, it has helped me get through 6 hours of back-to-back work. Using some mid-grade rechargeable batteries, you'd be able to record nonstop audio and still be able to have at least a third of battery life. If I were to buy one of these again, I'd absolutely buy it.

After five months, it turned into a brick
3/5

A warranty window for labor has closed after the product died. A fried board will cost $50 once it has been repaired. As of now, I hardly use it, and I will never buy another product from TASCAM. I recommend you go with the Zoom that you are probably avoiding due to the price.

UPDATE Upon receiving the unit, I discovered that it did not work. I have been unable to power on the device and it quickly shuts down when I try using My repair vendor said I must send it back, they could not reproduce the issue (which many people have reported here) and now they are requesting $40 for another Basically, I will lose $230 and not have the unit, but I would be able to get it back for another $40. What a stupid thing to do! That's like paying a ransom for the safety of a hostile entity! I recommend that you stay away from this product.
