The duplicator is very nice, and it arrived in excellent condition. My only gripe is that it says in the description, "Support optional hard drive to improve titles management. " While the hard drive is supported, there isn't enough room in the case to properly mount it, as stated in the description. I'd have to remove one of the burners to properly mount a HDD, which I don't want to do. I would have chosen a different duplicator if I had known that ahead of time, rather than having to figure out how to make it work. br>br>2/17 Update- Copystars contacted me and informed me that the hard drive can be mounted on the bottom of the case through four screw holes. I was successful in mounting it there. That is something I would recommend including in the manual because it is easily overlooked at first glance.
I made a DVD copy of my family's VCR tapes. It really works. br>After copying my family's VCR tapes to DVD, I duplicated them for family members using this machine. br>I've copied over 1000 times and it's still going strong. br>The copies are of excellent quality.
The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't duplicate the artist/title information found on some CDs. It does a fantastic job with DVDs. Because of the static that builds up, you'll need to open it up and disconnect the ribbon cable before reconnecting it. A second one would be purchased.
THE BEST.
I've copied about 30 DVDs without any issues. There haven't been any coasters yet, but the burns have been quick. A SATA drive can be easily inserted into the unit. The hard drive mounting brackets are the only thing left to purchase. My needs are best served by the 1 to 5 scale. This is an excellent unit that I would strongly recommend. br>br>Recent changes - 5/31/12br>Since then, I've burned over 200 DVDs with this burner. There are no roller coasters, and it is a fast-paced game. If I had the chance, I'd give it six stars! br>br>Recent changes - 7/8/12br>Since then, I've created over 300 DVDs without the use of coasters. Very dependable, and I strongly advise you to use it! br>br>Recent changes - 12/12/12br>(knock on wood) I'm still going strong. Over 500 DVDs have been produced without the use of coasters!.
br>br>With some preliminary tests, I was pleased with how quickly this unit copied. I've tried it out with my Halloween Greeting Mailers so far. Let's put it like this: br>br> I just spent $50 and an entire night cleaning up the messes that this thing had created. br>br>Let's start with the first. The bays will stop working from time to time. It will spit out the message BAD MEDIA and refuse to copy for that bay for the time being. However, if you use the disk somewhere else, it will work fine. br>br>However, the bad news is that it DOES NOT CLOSE THE DISK. In other words, if you use a RW, it will keep the disk "ghosted," meaning it will be unusable. This was brought to my attention last night, and I realized that the mailings I had sent the day before were useless. br>br>This is a waste of time. Remove yourself from the situation.
You must use higher-quality CD/DVD discs, as some of the lower-cost types will not work! I'm still experimenting with different types to see which ones work best, and the unit is fantastic. Get one of these, in my opinion. AWESOME DEAL!.
