Questions & Answers

Could someone please tell me if this works with Yosemite and how similar it is to Audacity (if they know). ?

In addition to Sound Studio 4, I have also upgraded my copy to version 5. This will automatically translate to 8. As well as upgrading OS X all the way to version 10, all versions have worked just fine. I gave this application a 4 (Yosemite). *br>On the other hand, I am not familiar with Audacity.

Selected User Reviews For Sound Studio 3: Record, Edit, Add Effects to Audio (Mac)

This is better than Roxio's Toast/Spin Doctor, but not up to the standards of Cool Edit
4/5

As a hobbyist, I mostly enjoy converting vinyl to digital and editing FM audio, though lately I have started to record live music as well. It is colorful, gaudy, and quite large compared to Spin Doctor uses Wave patterns that are unreadable to convert vinyl LPs, but its editing functions are inefficient and unpractical for large files. Sound Studio is harder to learn than Spin Doctor, but provides a more sophisticated interface and more useful functions for editing large files. It would be great to be able to set a timer for automatic recording, a feature that's lacking from Also included is a handy hardcopy manual, so this product can be used on any computer Roxio's Toast includes printed instructions once again, and perhaps this is the reason behind it.
Here is my opinion of the recently heavily marketed Wiretap Studio, which is definitely the best program for recording audio files over the internet (I mostly use it to record NPR Jazz files). You'll also be able to see about a dozen different compression ratios in real time, a feature that is unique to the program. In addition, you can record using any compression ratio rather than converting after the fact, which helps ensure that the recording doesn't exceed the storage capacity. Yet I can honestly say I feel more comfortable editing and recording non-musical sounds With Sound Studio, you can listen to internet audio. By contrast, the latter provides a larger display, better wave patterns, better level indicators, and more distortion protection, as well as the capability to save a single part of a large unedited file quickly and efficiently. In the future A new version of Sound Studio 3 has been released, A number of additional features and add-ons can be found in section 5. There's no problem upgrading from the Freeverse site. The new version is the same as my old Sound Studio 2, which was virtually free as I recall (the price of the current one seems high compared to the burning and video features of Toast, which is the same price). However, the current program has been safe and reliable for most of its existence. Additionally, Fission may be worth considering in this price range, which seems to offer similar features to Sound Studio as well as a number of other enhancements aimed at convenience. Instructions that are both friendly and easy to use Icons that are friendly. Audio Hijack Pro, a separate recording application, is required to use the program. Despite Apple's popularity with musicians and artists, there does not appear to be an Apple counterpart to the PC favorite, Cool Edit, although Sound Studio is probably the nearest due to the reasons listed above. It would be better if there were a few more recommendations and tutorials for the novice, even if the instruction manual is relatively brief and accessible. It can be easy to become overwhelmed by settings and effects if you fail to do this. Do you prefer the Normalization setting to the Compressor settings? What is the best way to use them Should I use the Peak Power (RMS) option or the Average Power (RMS) option when normalizing? Following many hours of experimentation, I've come up with this advice You might want to boost the volume a bit if the signal seems to call for To remove the dead spaces, coughs and clams, the wave patterns should be used. The rest will be taken care of by a quality microphone and recorder.

This makes for a great live show! Since I am a performing musician, I make an effort to record every show using a The board is sometimes possible to hook into, but sometimes I try to find a "sweet spot" to hide it so that I can make good use of the built-in mic

make one long file for each set, often over 1GB per set, and then hit record. As I navigate, I simply follow the waveforms and determine approximately when the songs are being broken up. Put a stop marker at the end of each track, and if there is a pause or nonessential conversation between songs, place another stop sign at the beginning of the next track. To split by markers, continue to the end of the file, save it, and Each marker will have a name associated with something I know will be essential or non-essential To delete the split files, I can go to the folder where the split files are stored, and delete the non-original split files I then use any burning software to create discs that I am able to play with every CD player, whether it is in my home or car. As well, it showed waveforms, and there were seldom a quiet passage in a song that could almost be whispered over. With the people I play with, we can bring it to such a low level that you could almost hear it. Putting the beginning and end markers at the beginning and end of those passages and amplification gave them more impact on the ear, but not so much that the emotion introduced by the level differences was lost. Sound Studio is a really good basic program - easy to learn and use. The system is simple enough that beginners can use it (and get an introduction to the principles of recording and mixing). For example, I am one of those people! However, a knowledgeable user can do a lot of really cool things with it that a 'casual' user might not be able to. In any case, despite the fact that it doesn't rival the likes of ProTools, Logic, or whatever, it carries out the task at hand to its intended end.

The Sound Studio 3 program
5/5

As part of my mission to digitize old cassette tapes and LP's, I am using Sound Studio 3 to transfer the audio files to my OS 10-based iMac computer. I have integrated it into my Mac and installed it easily. Once I became familiar with it, it was easy to import my tapes and albums to iTunes. It is unusual to use a printed manual in this There were a few things in the manual that I was not clear on, so I called tech support It's amazing that a live person answered the call right away! I will prefer to use the phone for technology support because sending emails is a long process. In order to create a music library that can be accessed in iTunes, you should consider this software.

The basic editor of sound is excellent
4/5

My experience with a number of "low end" audio editors has led me to conclude that Sound Studio for the Mac is superior. Unlike most other programs I tried (including AOL), it ran without crashing, which plagued other programs I tried (including AOL). The aptitude-testing website. Most of my voice editing is for lectures that have a music background mixed in. Audio files can be enlarged and unwanted sound bytes or noises can be edited out with ease. One thing it either doesn't have, or I haven't quite figured out yet, is how to filter out crackles and pops from the entire recording. With its low price, Sound Studio is one of the best programs you can get - even for free.

A nice little tool- The best audio editor ever
5/5

My favorite thing about this program is that it is simple and easy to use. In terms of functionality, it operates mainly in two tracks, so if you are looking for something similar to ProTools, keep searching. In my class, I mostly use this program for checking audio files that students submit as grades The disk is easy and quick to put in, the file can be opened to test its contents, etc. Small files can be edited quickly with the program. Though I am not thrilled with the price, when I remember how much Cool Edit 2000 cost at the time of its release it seems not so outrageous. The fact that it works with all Apple formats, as well as other formats, is a plus for me. The audio files are in wav format. The MP3 format. Having a problem with compatibility isn't a problem. Overall, documentation and support are easy to read and understand. However, this may not be the most suitable solution for larger companies. On the Mac, you can track your work. There is no question that ProTools is the best. It is an excellent choice if you want to edit, listen, and share files. There are a lot of low-cost options available An affordable.

Software that my husband likes makes him happy, and I believe that this software currently only runs on OS X platforms (tiger and leopard)
5/5

But he uses it on his old Macbook, so it doesn't matter. It was so great to find such a great product at a good price! Like I mentioned, it is no longer compatible with the latest OSX platforms, so it used to be a lot more costly. This device does exactly what he needs it to do, and he's thrilled with it.
