It is certain that the fog machine will perform better. For light beams, Hazers are ideal. However, if there is a breeze outside, it usually does not work.
Yes, the unit makes some noise, with the stepper motor that drives the fan being the most audible component. The rest is very similar to a fog machine, and if the room is silent, you will hear the machine, but if you are playing music, etc., you will not. It's not audible.

This is an outstanding piece of equipment. In a church setting, we use it to make haze. You can control the amount of haze as well as the fan speed using DMX. I'm blown away by how little liquid is used in this. We don't use it often, but it hazes our space nicely (approximately 35 feet wide, 20 feet tall, and 15 feet deep) even if we only run it for a few minutes.
Great hazing machine. br>I've used it for two events so far and it's been fantastic. The only drawback is that it isn't set up to daisy chain the AC power, so I have to use a Y-connector. Instead, you can use cable. Male and female power connectors are on all of my other lighting fixtures, allowing them to be chained together. br>br>Perhaps it's because of the heating element (and thus the amperage draw) that it's on its own power cable(? I just make sure that all of my power cables are 14GA (and that I'm only running four fixtures, including the hazer).
It was put to the test in a gym for a local band's performance. It wasn't bad, but I think it's a little too strong and doesn't disperse well (although there was an AC unit on and off, which influenced the performance as well). Still, for the price I paid, it's a good deal.
br>Also, it was unfortunate that I was sent a defective unit and had to call vinovations, who were extremely helpful, so I returned it and received a replacement that works perfectly: So, a five-star rating for both the product and the seller is in order.
I used it for the first time in a music video. The Chauvet hazer is excellent value for money. It was my first time using it in a music video, and it had about half the output of a Base Hazer. That may appear to be a disadvantage, but consider that the other hazer can cost upwards of $2500. You could buy two Chauvet hazers and compete with a much more expensive unit!.
I placed a second order for the same gazer for a different location. The unit is fantastic and arrived quickly. I put the hurricane to the test in my living room. My entire front yard was engulfed in haze in a matter of minutes. I believe it will be ideal for vacation bible school in our sanctuary.
