As described, they are what they are. My favorite part of the stands was their appearance. I found it very easy to assemble. All the parts and tools needed to build the stands are included. For the price, this is a good buy.
You've done a good job. The purpose of this item is served.
Purchased the *12in stands (which no longer seem to be available), but I suspect the build and quality are similar to those of the 12in stands. It was a sunny day, so I chose to use my yoga blocks, but my cat decided he liked chewing on the blocks (he loves squishy things) and I ended up dropping my speakers. Hence, I bought these since my cat doesn't find them as interesting as they would be to me. Even so, I imagine they must be rather tasty for humans, though I'd imagine one would have to be incredibly hungry to want to eat )
These came packaged in plastic that always leaves a mess thanks to the small pieces going flying everywhere due to static electricity. In spite of the packaging, the items are well protected. This was an easy assembly - Place 8 large wood screws in the pre-drilled holes For each stand, the 16 threads were drilled. Only one of the 16 holes lost its integrity very easily when tightened- As for the others, they fit snugly. This included 4 extra screws, 8 large and 8 small felt foot pads to place on the bottoms of the stands, as well as four extra screws.
The wood is made of MDF and covered with a wood & mineral oil finish. This leather veneer is made from leather. If you get within three feet, it's pretty obvious it's a veneer. From a few feet away, they look the same, but at an close range it's obvious it's a It's hard to say just yet how well this will hold up over time since the top/bottom base are also covered in this way. I'm worried that they will crack over time, but I was able to find no other stands for my bookshelf speakers that were 12" I ended up filling both speaker stands with a total of 10lbs of sand- a perfect amount. Using that estimate, I'd say you would need 5lbs of sand for every 6" of height. There is one really unfortunate thing, however, and that is the tops of the larger wood screws on the base are visible because the base is also screwed into the top of the column. If I make sure the bookshelf speaker is centered on the stand, I can cover the screws just fine with 4" speakers.
