Questions & Answers

A midi cable from the old school would work well, but how would I connect it?

The machine is supplied with a short gender cable that can be attached to a midi cable to connect to MIDI.

Can a power supply for a Kindle tablet be used?

I have a mini-USB charger and I can charge the device by connecting it to a computer via USB. The source to charge it should not be a problem for you. As the battery drains, the unit starts malfunctioning. Wrong voices will play, the buttons do not function correctly, and the unit is unresponsive. It works properly once it has been charged.

Are there any external speakers that can be connected via the ?

A good rule of thumb is As long as you can connect your laptop or PC's headphone jack to your speakers, you can also connect the miniEngine to those devices as well.

Midi is a brand new world for me, so please forgive me if I make any mistakes How do you connect this to an external speaker? Does it have a built-in speaker or is there a need to connect it to one?

A handy tool that can be used to play or compose at a moment's notice virtually anywhere and anytime

First, let me clarify that MidiPlus products from China are the exact same as those produced by It is MidiPlus that manufactures OEM parts. MidiPlus products come in a variety of colors, including blue, grey, and white, as opposed to ********* products that are usually black. $39 is an excellent price. The difference between 95 and 95 is 0. 00. 199 dollars. I found MidiPlus to be virtually the same as MidiPlus Plus, except for the anodized color and the price. The EXACT SAME item from ******** costs much more than this solid quality item. Well, can you tell us what it is? There are 128 preset GM patches (sounds like 8 or 12 bit with 16 bit 48 kHz digital circuit) that are really great for sketching, experimenting or just plain practicing without a phone, computer, or bulky keyboard. It's as cheap as a standalone phone battery and it has both a USB interface allowing for easy connecting to a computer AND a direct MIDI DIN input for a 128 preset 64 voice synthesizer as an added Could you please tell me how it sounds? The sound was as good (or bad) as the old SoundBlaster GM stuff that we used to think was great a few years ago. Despite what it is, it's not too complex. You can hear what you heard in Bread and Butter. Not much to see here. Secondly, the velocity curves of your keyboard will need to be adjusted, and reverb's a global feature across all patches, so you will either have to assign a CC to it or adjust a knob on your unit to suit. There are no other effects offered by the panel, but I will see if GS type effects can be enabled from CC's over MIDI, such as chorus, reverbs, vibrato, etc. (which you can do via MIDI CC messages). A major benefit of the GM specification is that its multi-layer nature can also accommodate splits and layers The timbre is automatically spread across 16 channels so you can combine more than one instrument into a fat layer. In other words, it is not a high end SoundFont SF2 general-purpose module, nor is it a sample-based GM module, nor is it a TTS based GM module It has the advantage of being portable, but it's still as good as a 1 or XG. With Anywhere, you can practice, jam, or write without the frustration of latency caused by Android plugins or bulky computers. In addition, the battery lasts for up to 5 hours while powering a USB MIDI keyboard. A backup cell phone battery can be used to recharge the battery or use it for longer periods of time. (You can also use it to charge your phone). Stuff your cheap little keyboard with this and your ear buds into a small bag with your truck, and you're ready to go.

I am not suggesting that you replace the expensive software you purchased The tools and toys provided here are of high quality, but at the lower end of the spectrum, this little MIDI setup is a great handy tool to have with you at any time.

I love this little MIDI setup for what it does. There is no limit to where it goes. Moreover, the price is a no-brainer, when compared with the cost of a quality USB battery backup A 64 voice polyphonic 128 instrument MIDI synthesizer (with an up/charger).

A portable device that makes instant GM cheese
3/5

In the case of an existing USB-driven computer For those who have a MIDI keyboard (or another input device), but want to get 100+ sounds instantly without having to use a computer, this is an easy way to get them instantly, and it's battery powered, so there's no need to use an AC adapter. The main problem I had was the loud audio output, as well as the tame to lame sound quality of the GM sounds. It was not a pleasing sound quality for me, so I returned it. It looks like we've moved past the idea of decent standalone GM sound modules. By having unlimited memory and tweakability in DAW software instruments, I'd anticipate the market has been destroyed.

People are posting negative opinions about this too often

*READ THIS REVIEW* Is this intended for recording in a studio? Not at all. Can it be put in your gear bag for a weekend trip, when you might want to pull out the keyboard and jam out some tunes? Yes, I agree! This is a great MIDI engine to make use of if you are a traveling keyboard artist and need a cheap MIDI engine. With the midi engine at your fingertips, you can jot down some notes right next to the guitarist and plug right into the amp, rather than having to lug the laptop out and begin the MIDI program, and letting the band wait while you do an OS update or software update. We then investigate why OS X is not able to see MIDI devices. You won't hear any noises if you're playing on the go. There are some programs that do make some noise but if you're playing, you won't notice it. There is no studio quality, so don't expect it. It supports USB host and MIDI interfaces, so you can use old style barrel plug MIDI keyboards, or USB compatible This is very useful when you want to remove a USB host device from your As of right now, I have a USB host box, a MIDIPlus S-Track device, and an iOS device Out of the engine box, into the mixer, and then to the You can replace all three of these devices with this one! However, I won't switch to it from my current set up, but it's great for powering up the keyboard and taking some notes. The selection of programs it offers is great, but some are weird ). Most are good, however. Including the fact that it's not studio quality, it's not good enough The quality you would get from a studio is better not to expect for this price. Using the midi control centre makes it easy for you to experiment with tracks without having to break out your laptop or start up your midi setup.

When you pay for something, you get what you paid My band, which I am in, uses a 2-inch bass player and I purchased this device to use with that device My should is healing from previous surgery, so I'm using an octave midi keyboard until then
4/5

I was disappointed in the bass sounds when I tested them. A typical bass guitar is only realistic to a certain extent in that it does not have a heavy "attack" on the leading edge of the waveform. My Samsung S7 became a pain to use, and I therefore spent a lot of time looking for an android app alternative. The following two apps were purchased as a result of extensive testing The bass sounds in FluidSynth MIDI and Walk Band are quite good. The problem with these is that they are software and come with inherent issues (latency, crashes, limitations, etc. ). I cannot charge my phone while using it for live performance, so I use this as my live With the 2500 mah battery, it can be recharged while in use, but the battery can last for hours without I'm using #34 and #35 for the sounds. In general, you can use other instruments, such as a nylon guitarist transposed down an octave, to get a fairly good bass sound without huge attack waves. The bottom line is that I found it to be a very beneficial and inexpensive solution for my situation. A MIDI keyboard can be turned into a basic synthesizer using this program. Although sound samples cannot be uploaded to the device, it does have a built-in sound that works. The noise issue noted in other reviews is not an issue for me Playing it is like listening to a clean sound.
