Product Description

Classics Custom Dark Expanded set includes 14 inch dark hihats, 20 inch dark ride, 16 inch dark crash, 18 inch dark crash, 18 inch dark china and 16 inch dark trash crash, as well as a free 10 inch dark splash and 12 inch
hammered with extra force - an advanced finishing process results in an attack with shadowy tones and plenty of presence - extra deep hammering adds depth to this cymbal by shaping warmth and dryness with its own style.
Cymbals with explosive power - Classics Custom Dark cymbals open up for an energetic drive at loud dynamics, making them a great choice for high octane styles such as
Bronze alloy B10 - Consisting of 90% copper and 10% tin, the bronze blend has a uniform tone that packs a punch and cuts through dense mixes easily - the natural color of the bronze is evident in the lathe marks that accent its dark finish.
We offer a unique dark finish that is a part of the cymbal making process, not just a coating. The dark finish will resist fading over time, so it can be played with, traveled with and even buff (for us who like our gear to look new).
We make our cymbals using 100% renewable energy in our German factory with a lathe formed profile, extra hammering, wide blade lathing, and a dark finish - we use 100% renewable energy to make our cymbals.

Questions & Answers

Does the bag come with the cymbals?

There is no such thing. Each one is in its own clear plastic bag, inside of which is a box.

If I play a lot of classic rock, and some heavier things, does it make sense to get Zildjin As instead?

Heavy metal and rock fans will love these. Quite a few of the guys I have who play rock love these cymbals because they are so good for the price. Customs are also great. The expensive ones fit about everything, but they are more versatile. They'd be the right set for you if you're a rocker, and at the price point, a full set is completely feasible. I appreciate your kind words, thank you

What is the dark finish like? Does it Do you think it works Which one is it? Is it a thin or thick Your help is greatly appreciated! ?

The speakers work great for me, especially if I'm playing heavy music. There are no chips. Your cymbals take the blows just like any other. I like the mid-range sound, since it's not too bright, but in the middle.

May I ask if you could throw in a bag of cymbals along with this order?

Good afternoon, mate! If you're down with that, I'm down! Asking the seller might be a good idea?

There was a crack in the cymbal
3/5

The warranty has not been Sweetwater Sound (GearNuts) is not recommended for purchasing. The sound of these cymbals is fantastic, but their durability leaves a lot to be desired. It took just a couple of months for the 16-inch crash to split. While the Meinl Web site states "In order to get the cymbal replaced, please contact the authorized Meinl Cymbal Dealer where the cymbal was purchased with the original sales receipt, until the seller honors the warranty. Cymbals will be covered under warranty for a period of two (2) years, starting on the date of original retail purchase, if it does not show signs of abuse, neglect, or modification. This company is not trustworthy. Do not do business with them.

The next rung of the ladder for beginners (UPDATE 2020)
5/5

This is a dark and atmospheric film. My Lugwig set up (1 up, 2 down) has been used with these, 3/18/2021
I used my DW Design series for this. They're currently hooked up with my Mapex Pro M custom (sizes have been ordered) I did end up swapping out my ride for one with a little more weight and a bigger bell. All the rest remains the same though. This is one of my faves of all time, and I'm thrilled that so many of my favorite drummers use the same black classic custom customs. My poor Mapex kit has taken a lot of punishment and been dove on by our lead singer (not a problem for these models!). They have all remained in great shape. That is perfectly acceptable even if you are not buying the big kit with 8 cymbals of enormous size. The small sizes are still great too! The goal is to use them during live performances. As we have two guitarists and a keyboardist who love loud noises, we need them for live performances. If only Meinl made microphones and recording equipment, I would be able to use only 4 mics with my 7 piece drum kit and 8 piece cymbal set and get a great sound (just need a cheaper audio interface for a 10 mic setup, lol). It's an amazing company (and no, I'm not being paid for these reviews). I paid my own money for the large kit and plan to use it until I'm unable to use it any more.

Edit A new batch of photos was added. I have all 8 cymbals up but they will be rearranged once I finish my drum room. If it's not so cramped, it won't look so bad. I can't seem to take a decent picture of these things in a dark room. I was glad to get them when I did since I noticed an increase in price. My previous cymbal kit was a 6 piece Meinl HCS that I loved. The move to the 8 piece kit has been a very big step up for me. One of my favorite cymbals is the 18in trash crash, and one of my favorites is In addition, I enjoy the sound my 16in hi-fi system provides As I've never played a hi-top crash I thought it was unusual that they make hats (since I've only ever played a 14in crash). It's hard to find hats as big as this one. Back in 96 and 2001, I was a drummer (but I joined the army and quit my music career to serve My world has changed dramatically over the years, and now I feel like a new born baby trying to figure out all these innovative and exciting products. It sounds incredible when I hit my 18" and 20" crash cymbals With half of these cymbals set up in front of me, even sitting in front of my kit with half these cymbals makes me look quite bought the biggest kit it had and it reminded me that cymbals can cost as much as Unlike any other cymbals, these can cut through sound without a problem. Although I own a DW Performance series steel 14 x 8 snare with an Evans dry head and a clear 500 snare side bottom, I don't use it. Additionally, the snare is equipped with a Tama 42 snare wire on the bottom which makes the instrument Besides the awesome moon gel that looks like honey, this cymbal set came with some sweet moon gel. The plus side is that they are pretty A snare has been attached to my hand. It is Evans Black Chrome (there is no need for muffling on this set), the bass drum has a kickport2 (hole cut by me with a tool I got on Amazon) and the batter head is an EMAD2 so muffling on there is unnecessary. A virgin bass drum has a unique sound I particularly like. As I'm here to talk about these beautiful Meinl Dark Classic Customs, I won't get into that as I'm here to talk about their special sound, look, and unique way of working. My band gave me a decent sum of money to purchase a new set of cymbals and a new kit. Having the option to purchase Sabian, Zildjian, and Pastie would have been the mainstream option for me. custom made product, HHX's, Rude series, or one of several other However, I liked the beginner set of Meinl's HCS cymbals and looked at some video clips and decided to buy it. It was only a problem that I had never played on a hi-def 16 inch device before It's hard to imagine a 20-inch crash even if you wore a hat. My favorite of the two rides was the 22" ride. I couldn't wait to set them up once I got them open. I was overjoyed that everything was so big. That's what I love about With the 16in stack trash you get a beautiful dark tone, and the 18in trash crash is designed for heavier breaks. There are no downsides to purchasing this kit aside from its price. They are not light but the amazing sound and look with make up for it more than enough. You might also need to rent a bacco to hold them up (totally joking) These are heavy by no means but they are worth the weight in sound and look alone. At the moment, I have between 5 and 6 cymbals on a 6 piece kit, but I plan to have all 8 set up in the future. When it comes to these cymbals, there are infinite possibilities in terms of sounds. In my opinion, you should make the purchase rather than buy each device individually as you would spend far more than the current asking price. The amber moon gel that came with this kit is really amazing.

The ones you're looking for! Buying them instead of shopping is the best way to save money
5/5

This set of cymbals is absolutely amazing! Since I have played a lot of cymbals over the years and was strapped for cash after playing with my new kit, I chose these cymbals rather than forking over another $1000+ for new ones. Loudness is one of these things. It doesn't matter where they are or where they are racing. They will cut through. It feels great to ride in the hats, and the ride itself has a really nice feel. They are a great step up from B8's or something similar if you are transitioning from entry level to intermediate. My taste in cymbals has shifted. I doubt I will ever use any other brand The cymbals feel like professional cymbals that can be purchased by the average person.

The set is great for mid tier
5/5

You get a lot for your money with these, and they look great. The Byzance and K Customs sets are a good option if you want an upgrade from the lower tier cymbals B8s or HCS sets but aren't quite ready to commit to a grand on a Byzance or HCS set. These are all real crisp and glassy to listen to, and the hi-res is clear They have some great mid tier cymbals, I have had them for a few months and I am happy with the purchase. I have a ching ring on mine and it removes all the ring and gives it a nice effect.

I felt like I had just been to Disneyland for the very first time when I opened the box
5/5

It would be great if they were given 100 stars. Seeing the box for the first time was so exciting! In addition to upgrading my classical cymbal set, I bought a set of drums. In the old days, the old cymbals sounded like tapping on beer cans, there was no character in them. These changed it. Oh boy oh boy, did they change it. With just these additions to an otherwise very basic kit, your kit will sound great as long as the players are The best drum sticks ever! I recommend these to every drummer in the world!.

The decay is beautiful and the tone is dark! What a great set of cymbals! While closed, the hi hats have a crisp and tight feel, but when they are open, they have a deeper dark undertone and a nice smooth dry ring
5/5

There is a lot of aggression, dark tones and a lot of resonance and decay in crashes. Despite this, the ride is still nice and pingy, but it still has that dark decay I find so captivating. Sabian and Zildjian are the only brands of pianos I have played but I have never liked their bright and basic sound. In terms of the variety and style of Meinl's cymbals, they are quite unique. This is the cymbal for you if you like a quick decay and dark tones.

Meinl is the Chinese character for yes. It sounds like these things are great! It was the exact sound I was trying to achieve. This is a great deal at a great price! Those that are looking for a cutting sound without being too bright should pick these up!.

I was first struck by the sound, then by the look
5/5

My passion for drums dates back 57 years, I started playing when I was 10 years old, I own 5 different sets of cymbals that cost me $$$$$, but I like these for the looks but they sound good. I used them for rock and roll. The roll looks very much like my K Zildjian set but it's a lot cheaper.
