There is a difference in thickness between them. Whenever I can I choose skins that have a diameter that is in proportion to their size. In general, thicker is larger in diameter. During the checkout process, you'll be able to choose thin, medium, or heavy.
This should work if this drum requires goatskin. I haven't used these drums before, but they appear to require goatskin. You should always order larger than you need for extra workspace when mounting, and you should specify thickness when placing your order.

Too big and it can be trimmed, too small and it will slip. I have a 10 inch doumbek and it works perfectly. As soon as I tried to replace my head, I bought a skin that was 12 inches wide. As soon as it was mounted, it slipped off the drum due to its small size. My research on the internet (of course) taught me how to mount these heads. On my drum, I have two bands that are made of metal. A screw holds the bottom ring in place while a second screw tightens the top ring. In addition to the drum, there is another round ring around which the skin must be wrapped before it can be stretched over it. There is a little ring on this top ring that serves as a pushpad for pressing the top ring most important thing I learned about soaking a head in water is that it softens the hair. You then need to be extra careful to not tear The heads of these drums are very thin, unlike djembe heads that are thick. Glad to see that the doumbek is working.
Off the mark, but not completely I liked the white, as it had some blemishes that I wasn't a fan of, but overall the look was terrific. This fit a 10" drum head perfectly, but I did not like the way it felt. We did manage to work around this, but it was a little more challenging than I anticipated. I would buy with a minimum of 3" on all sides (say, 16" for a 10" drum head) in the future but we did manage to work around it. Nevertheless, we were able to change the broken head on our djembe by following the instructions in the videos on the internet. However, in the future we would have been able to bring in new rope, instead of continuing to use the old rope. All in all, though, it's a fairly straightforward task.
I'm happy with my purchase.
A nice, even thickness and clean appearance.
As soon as I began to tighten the cords, thin spots appeared along the edges of the skin. The quality of the product was poor.
