It was a great investment! The cartridge is very nice to look at and sounds great, too
5/5

The green Audio-only stock version does sound better, I admit, but there is a little more definition than before The cartridge itself is of the Technica type, but not what I expected after reading all of the reviews. A system that can take full advantage of the range that the 2M offers may not be in my hands. Therefore, the purchase of this product I made is very satisfying to me. Music seems to take on a life of its own and I can appreciate every This was a great way for me to make my system sound much better at a reasonable price point as I just got back into records. I think the SH-S20 is better than the 2M, although the 2M can be had for $99 It is worthwhile to upgrade to a 4 headshell. I just posted some images of the 2M and headshell combo. It looks great on the LP120 as you can see in the pictures. You should not worry about installing a new cartridge if you're concerned about it. A light bulb can be changed in about the same amount of time. Don't forget that the LP120 has a headshell / cartridge holder located at the bottom by the tone arm. It is easy to switch out the.

To begin, I want to point out that this cartridge has forced me to pay more attention to the way my turntable is set up. The past few days have provided me with a lot of learning opportunities. As I move up the turntable ladder, I am doing so slowly and incrementally. Some will say this gear isn't as high-end as they would like to believe. Your priorities and budget will determine what's most important to you. Based on my experience, here is what I learned. I have the LP-02 as my "low end" audio gear There is a Yamaha R-120 TT in the world I have an amplifier KEF S202 and a set of Q-Hammers The speakers are 100 Watts each as well as a Sony 10' subwoofer. Due to the fact that my amplifier does not have a sub woofer output, I use speaker level inputs and outputs. would guess that the total cost of my system before the new cartridge was around $850. I think we have a fairly budgeted There is a growing collection of vinyl in my collection, some new and some a little older. It's "old" for a few of them. In order to step up my game, I wanted to buy a better Therefore, when I saw this combo, I immediately thought that it would be nice to have two complete head shells so I could switch between them for different records and also have one "beater" cartridge if I ever wanted to play certain records differently. The Audio Technica LP-32A is my current portable audio player A direct drive turntable with an AT95e cartridge came with a 120. It had taken me many hours to complete and I had accidentally knocked it around a few times, so I had been noticing that the sound was degrading. As with any LP-style, there are a few caveats As a result of the motor's direct drive there is an increased level of surface noise. I've never really bothered with it too much, and I've never used a really quiet TT as a comparison. A common issue is that the vertical tracking angle adjustment, which drives the entire tone arm assembly, is set too high when it's at the least setting - the easiest way to fix this problem is to reposition the dial to the minimum setting. This is because the tone arm is always angled downward towards the shell end of the cartridge. So anyway, I put the new cartridge and head on and gave it a run. As part of my research, I found out how to align the cartridge properly. The solution can be found in Using a measuring tape, measure the distance between the gasket and the tip of the stylus on your head shell. After that, make the cartridge as square as possible in the head shell. It is also possible to use an aligning protractor to mark several points on the arc of the tone arm travel when buying or printing one out. The method that I used was a hybrid one. The final adjustments were made with a protractor, which I downloaded from Audio Technica. Once I setup the overhang at 53mm, I took me some time to adjust it. In the end, I was glad that I set it up this way since it ended up canting slightly toward the spindle when it was properly positioned. Next, I listened to the music. There was nothing to impress me about it. I liked the details in this song, but the highs were very harsh. Aside from that, the bass was almost nonexistent unless the amplifier was cranked up to a high volume. As I was already aware of the VTA problem, but this table always sounded better to me than the first one I had so I did not really have a great example to refer to. During this time, I began researching these issues online. I found lots of debates about the importance or lack thereof of proper VTA on audiophile forums. A trend that kept emerging on the forums was a relationship between the sounds I was hearing from my new cartridge and a stylus that was angled downward. It was only a matter of stacking my OEM Audio Technica felt mats and adding my rubber mat on top to bring the head level with the record. Holy cow! It was still bass-heavy and still had a lot of detail, but it was no longer high-pitched. There is a lot of lifelike sound in the cymbals and bells. I wouldn't say the sound is bright but in a positive In my opinion, it is more comfortable to listen to music with the bass and treble off on the amplifier. I feel as though I'm losing something if I adjust one or the other. You make a great point. It may also have helped to reduce surface noise because of the tall mass of sound deadening material on the platter. Only a tiny bite of the vertical spindle lurks out the side, so I am still able to use the record weight, but it is a bit floppy on top since there is no vertical spindle left. The replacement stylus for the OEM head shell of the AT had been ordered during the meantime. This is the AT95EX I got. Cartridges of this type are well known for their budget pricing. For this new cartridge, I did the same setup as before. Comparatively to the Ortofon 2M Red, it appeared to be a little less picky about the VTA. The sound of it is also fantastic. There is more bass, but it is a little boomy, and it is not as well defined when it comes to the highs. When I remove the Ortofon, it sounds great, but then I put it back on, it sounds like crap. In my opinion, the AT95EX has a creamier but less defined sound. My personal favorite is the Ortofon because it sounds more lifelike and better. While it is possible to swap head shells, the weights of the two cartridge/head shell combinations are different. When combined with an AT95EX headshell, the AT95EX weighs 14 lbs. There is a difference of 45 grams between the Ortofon combo and the 45 gram combo. This 88 gram product is suitable for every day use. Because I wanted the Ortofon to be able to be switched between quickly, I weighed it out on a separate digital scale so that it had a vertical tracking force of 2 grams. Once that was done, I taped the tonearm weight scale to the weight and set it to In conclusion, the VTF of the AT combo was somewhere between and This is the weight when it is set for the Ortofon combo 68 grams. I set the tracking force for the tone arm weight scale to 2 grams and measured it at 3 grams by using a separate digital scale set to the same height as a record. As a result, I can now simply switch cartridges and spin the scale from 2 to 3 grams while switching the coupled tone arm weight. About 30 seconds are spent on the whole process. I recommend you keep in mind that this review will only be able to address the AT-LP The turntable has a 120 degree arc. Vertical tracking angle is something you will always have to contend with on a Setting the correct angle is of utmost importance for this cartridge, as I have learned from my experience. It is only now that I am curious and wondering what the effect of the three layers of mats is. Other than swapping the mat materials or shimming the head shell, I can't do much to help. Several millimeters thick would be necessary for such a shim. Thus, this is the best I can do for now. My turntable will eventually wear out so I'll buy a new one at some point and do this.

One of the best cartridges on the market in the "bottom" tier
5/5

The Audio Technica LP 1240 turntable I own was purchased to replace a Fluance RT 81 that I sent back for a refund because I was not pleased with it at all (see my review on that turntable). As a result, the LP 1240 does not come with a At that time, I had an AT 95E that was nearly new and installed it successfully. However, I wanted to try something different, so I started reading reviews on the Ortofon 2M Red, and I decided to buy it anyway, even though it is one of the less expensive cartridges in the Ortofon line and considered a "bottom" tier cartridge. Wow, I'm glad I made the decision. Compared to the AT 95E, it is a world of difference. It took these 66-year-old ears only a few minutes to notice the difference. There is a deeper bass, a clear midrange, and a clear and sharp high range (but not as bright as some reviewers claimed). After it has been properly broken in, I can't wait to use it. We can't wait to hear how it sounds! I like that this setup allows me to purchase the stylus later on in case I want to upgrade to the 2M Blue, Bronze, or Black cartridges since the cartridge bodies are compatible. I cannot think of anything you would want more. There is no better way to play music than with Ortofons.

You should definitely invest in it
5/5

For many years, I have been collecting vinyl records. Audio Technica AT-300 is the model currently in my possession The following is a transcript from the 120th lesson. Since the turntable came with only a single cartridge, I had been using it exclusively. This Ortofon cartridge was recommended to me by a friend. It arrived quickly, so I took a few minutes to install The sound was dramatically better than I had ever heard it before. At first, I wasn't convinced that a newer, better-quality Cartridge could truly make that much difference, but I happily changed my mind after using the Ortofon 2M. It would definitely be worth trying if you are a vinyl lover.

This is so much better than I was expecting! When I purchased this cartridge and headshell, my hopes were high but my expectations were low
5/5

My entry could be made even more dramatic by this tiny piece of art Isn't it better to have a level turntable? I was surprised by what I found out! The following are my thoughts after listening to the album for a few days. Quality of the product Despite its modest price tag, this cartridge/headshell combo provides excellent performance. I did not expect it to be so premium for the price, and it doesn't feel cheap at all. This section discusses installation and configuration That's how simple it is! After about 2 seconds, the alignment with my protractor was exactly where I wanted it. Perhaps I was lucky. It only took a few seconds to adjust the counter 1 is the new weight. All I had to do was add 8g and it worked! The quality of the sound This is why you bought this thing, and I must say that I was blown away by it. I listened to vinyl again and found it so much cleaner, the lows are deeper, the highs are higher, and maybe I don't "hear" as well as others but I don't notice the over brightening some people are complaining about. In my opinion, everything seems more pronounced, the vocals are clearer, and the instruments are more clearly separated. I don't have the vocabulary to properly describe what I mean, but I think everything seems clearer. This was a great deal for the price! My purchase is excellent. I am very pleased with it! definitely buy it again if I had the chance, and if you're on the fence about it, please trust me - it is completely worth it!.
