You can do that with acrylic and it will look awesome
It is best to lay the record so that the groove of the label (rough side) faces upwards - this will produce a perfect flat surface. This would cause the record to be slightly thrown off by the label in the center.

This acrylic slipmat is just what I was looking for. orange mat is a nice touch - I love it! Also, the quality and packaging are excellent. The glossy black color looks really great with it. The felt mat that came with my turntable is so much better than this one. As compared to other products available, such as cork or other acrylic mats, the cost is much lower with this mat. It seems to provide less static and my records seem to spin and sound so much better with this acrylic slipmat. The product I chose was exactly what I was looking for and I will recommend it to my.
A cheaper way to improve the sound of my Fluance RT83 turntable, I bought this after watching videos on You Tube. YouTubers were right, as it turns out. It must be pointed out that I also use a record weight on the center spindle, but you can definitely hear the improved bass response. The static appears to be kept to a minimum as well. An added benefit. Furthermore, they look really cool! This is a good tool for anyone looking to increase the performance of their table a little bit.
It has tight bass response and a great midrange. There is no static on the platter, since the disc is perfectly positioned on top of the platter with the center slot. This purchase has been a great experience for me.
