This is replaced with a new one. The metal platter should be placed on top. IMPORTANT Sound quality is affected by the type of mat. The original I had was old and needed replacing - so I bought this one. It was discharging a sticky substance that was coming out of my record player. I preferred the sound of the rubber one over this new acrylic one, which is still good and is within my budget. There is no right or wrong answer it all depends on personal preference Rubber gives a better bass sound to me. The mat is not made with slippy material used by DJs for scratching or back queuing.
The thickness is about the same as a 180 gram vinyl
There are more hard parts than soft parts. There is a possibility of bending it. Although it's not the best mat, it's not the worst either.
The sound it makes just depends on whether you like it or not, so I can't see any purpose for you not to use it with acrylic platters.

As we compared the rubber mat from the stock Reloop Turn 5 and the vinyl mat, the former won hands down. No doubt about it There was a consensus among listeners that the recordings now sounded crisper, as subtle harmonics that were suppressed by the rubber mat weren't heard. A 15% reduction in volume could also be achieved. Analyzing this cartridge and stylus comparison was done with a Nagaoka 110 cartridge.
I had hoped it would be better than it was. I found that the OD was almost equal in diameter to a record, and the OD stuck over the platter a bit, making lifting LPs off difficult. The center hole was oversized and fit sloppy on the Rega TT spindle. I do not know how deep the label recess was, but it was probably at least 4 inches I have never seen a label thickness that is 5x deeper than any thickness I have ever seen, letting the entire label surface Replied with a return email. I was disappointed because I was hoping this would be a more affordable alternative to the more expensive models. After I left the Rega felt mat, I went back to it.
This made such a huge difference. The idea that there would be a difference sounded unlikely to me. A felt platter was difficult to see, but switching to an acrylic platter produced a much clearer picture. The window was clean like someone cleans a dirty mirror. I love it. You can tell it was a quick and dirty route job, since the recessed portion for the record label is a bit rough. Still, it is still a struggle. An improvement in the sonic field.
I ordered the white mat and it is very nice. This adds a sophisticated appearance to the turntable and makes it work It looks very good that the center record is indented. In fact, I ordered the same mat in black for a second turntable because I was so pleased. However, there is a horrible indentation in the center of the label on the mat. Blemishes in the form of drill hole types dot the surface. I don't like the look of this. The black one is being sent back and another one is being ordered. I will permanently return if the situation remains the same. Taking a look at the pictures on Amazon of the black mat, you may see it in perfect condition and some with those horrible blemishes. The replacement BLACK mat arrived today, so I'm hoping it will be perfect. *UPDATE
>The There is a big difference between the first and this This mat does have a few blemishes, but they are not visible by looking at it, so I will keep it. The blemishes on the mat are again located within the cut out indentation. There are no problems with the shiny areas.
This is what it means. great. I use it a lot on my Pro- there is no cork in this thing and I like it better I'd like to thank you for your interest in my project.
From now on, I will only use acrylic. There are a few minor points to consider Record platters are 12" in diameter, so it is no surprise, but if it was smaller, records would be easier to pick up from Some turntables have it hanging over the edge. A deep label recess that is good for anti-skid You may need to adjust your skating system if it requires it. The price is excellent, and the shipping is fast.
It's not that I haven't tried cork or felt, but I'm not inclined to try any given that I love this acrylic mat so much. I have only encountered a problem with it when I used my antivirus software In regards to the static brush, if I put too much pressure on it, the record will slip on the mat.
The sound of this on a Rega platter does not satisfy me. The bass is overly bright, and there is no depth to it. My knowledge may be that it would work better with platters made of materials other than glass. There is also a slight overhang of the platter due to the ring not being perfectly circular.
