The instrument is very good, but
4/5

The tone on this instrument is really clear and the volume is great. Whenever you play it, it is responsive. Most of my playing in orchestras is done in a community orchestra where I am one of about 5 or 6 cellos. Over the past 35 years I've played an instrument that has been passed down in our family, which sadly is in need of significant work, which I am not able to afford at the moment. I decided to purchase a cello for a student and thought it would be fun to play a five-string cello. Nonetheless, there are some caveats with this cello, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. Make sure you have There is an awful string that comes with the cello. The sound is cheap and the weight is heavy. They were worth any money I spent on them. I bought a set of La Bella Helicore strings, which cost me $126. While they are lighter than previous models, the sound is superior and the volume is not compromised. * * 2. For a four string cello, it came with a normal bridge. You have too narrow a space. To make this, I cut off the very top of an old bridge, attached hard maple to it, and shaped it so that I had about eight or nine strings. The difference between 5 cm and 6 cm is the width. You should be able to space your strings a little more apart after that. of this instrument has a wider width than a regular cello's, which means a wider bridge is possible. By failing to do so, you'll be bumping into your If you cannot or won't do the splicing yourself, I have updated An instrument bridge for the bass viol da gamba has been ordered and will be fitted 1. 2. 3. piece of plastic that holds the tailpiece is known as the "gut. " There are threads along the Make sure your spring is made out of aircraft cable with If not, the threads will rip and the explosion will occur, as it did to me. It was impossible to keep it in tune, and finally it exploded after the threads failed. 4 *br /*br I would describe this as a slight caveat, not a caveat itself. With this instrument, you can either string it with a low F or a high E. After reviewing the music, I decided that an E high would suit the tenor and treble clef much better. If you are a player of the A string, you know there is little to gauge your progress once you get into the upper range. I thought it would be less helpful to have a low F to use with the basses since that might be harder to hit. In the past, I have seen comments online saying that a five string cello is going to have less volume since the extra string is there, but this is not what I have found. This string is perfectly clear and has a big, powerful sound with no noticeable loss of volume with the Helicore strings. Neither the overall volume nor the width of the cello is affected. There is simply no real reason for this prejudice - Rather than based on real experiences, a prejudice is founded on assumptions. I realize that this is not an amati or a Stradivarius but I can't afford those. An instrument like this is ideal for a middle-aged man who plays in a community orchestra with his friends as a way to escape from the trials of life. Although it has the above caveats, this is a good instrument, and if you spend a few thousand extra on better strings and a wider bridge it is still a fine instrument. The other cellists will probably be surprised when I bring this to orchestra practice next week and ask how many strings it has after doing a double take! I have updated I am planning to replace the scroll with a Chinese carving since this is such an inexpensive, but nice, cello. You won't be able to miss it! What a great idea!.

The cello is in excellent condition and at an amazing price
5/5

This cello is both beautiful to look at and to hear. The cello is wonderful. I never thought I would be able to find such a nice instrument at this price, and I expected to be disappointed, but it is amazing. For the bridge of my watch, it was fine, but I think my fingers are smaller than the other reviewer's. As it turns out, playing the A string was a bit sloppy. Having five strings has really helped me improve my technique. In fact, there was no real use for the original strings, and they likely only served to keep the sound post in place during shipping. For the 15-dollar strings, I just ordered the cello to test it out, and I haven't changed the strings yet. That's how good this instrument sounds. Having fun with the bow is a lot of fun. This cello has a wonderful balance and feel, and I often use it as a match for my braided carbon fiber bow that costs more than this one. Buying this cello is a great deal if you're looking for a good cello at a great price.

The instrument is not able to be tuned
3/5

In order to replace the pegs with new ones, I'll be spending half the price of the cello. Several strings broke after I tried to tune them to pitch. The pegs don't hold, and the pegs don't stay in place. After replacing strings, I was able to get it into tune for a few minutes at a time, but I wasn't able to sustain the tuning. I was quite pleased with the sound of the cello during those moments, but it's basically unusable as got shipped (to me, at least). Announcing an update I ended up having to spend about two thirds of the cost of my instrument and shipping just to get it to a point where it could be cleaned and tuned. I don't like it.
