I got what I paid for

You get what you pay for. My students are learning the basics of cello thanks to this cello and I am using it in my classroom more often. . Its sound is too tinny to use (I will change the strings soon to see if that helps) and its odor is odd.

The construction was very poor, but it was inexpensive and pretty

A professional repair person took my guitar to be set up with a bridge, and the fingerboard has ripples. This prevents the bridge from being properly placed, and causes the strings to sit higher than they should. After about two months after receiving the cello, the neck attachment started to rip away from the body. Apparently I can no longer play it, so it is now just a pretty bit of art.

This is amazing! The instrument is quite nice! While the instrument is only supplied with a cheap bow, the sound still sounds amazing. It is a great purchase for anybody at any stage of their playing career.
